The basic rule for all BMX tricks is "Go fast and Pull up!"
Beyond that, increase your speed and learn to carve. Carving airs just over coping will help you get used to going over the lip and spotting your landing. Once you can carve a good one foot high air, straighten it out so you go more up and down rather than side to side.
Once over the coping, learn to bone the front and back wheels to correct you airs.

Listen to Brett. He knows his stuff. And most of all don't be Skeered.
Good luck man.

Wear a good full-face helmet. That will protect you and take away some of your fear.

I'm in the same boat as Aggrodad. I can carve at the coping level. Also where I ride there is a 6 ft love seat in the middle of a 11 ft vert wall. I can fly out of the top of the love seat into the vert wall with no problem or fear. However there is a 6ft quarter(carbon copy of the loveseat) that i just can't bring my self to take off of at the coping.
*Here is a pic....the 6ft quarter is just to left.

I would be practising on the bigger ramp next to it. If you can do 180's up high, it's not a lot different when you hit the 6ft ramp. It's a lot of mind control due to the fact that it doesn't look possible. We all know it is. Once you master it though it's the biggest buzz in BMX in my opinion. Speed is your friend too.

The Factory. It is located in Newnan GA just south of Atlanta.
Love it! Place is a blast to ride. They are bmx friendly all the time. One of my friends works there so we ride it all the time.

I want to ride there and the trip isn't too far; only thing is I am just back into freestyle after 15 years off, I'm just relearning everything. So far I can bunnyhop and wheelie lol. (sad, if you knew what kind of stuff I used to pull...) I don't want to get in the way of guys wanting to ride, watching me fall all over... got any recommendations when it'd be a good day or time for someone like me to hit that?
