Something For the Weekend?

I wanted to build a Mike Dominguez Replica, it is finally finished took about 18 months or so to get this one together with quite a few hassles and let downs along the way. I went for signature grips rather than the red shrooms. (No custom forks either). Only thing left to do is swap the pedals freestyle set that I have coming.

The F&F, Bars, and Non anodized Graphites are thanks to Richie Haney.

Hope you enjoy, Cheers Dan

What is different about those pictures? They look really good. How many megapixel are they, what size, etc?
Kerry
I believe that is re-coated. From what I understood, all Futureistic t'stars were overseas frames. Thats certainly a frameset made in the Usa. School me if I'm wrong....Just adding to which I thought I understood.

Great looking scoot. Love non anodized graphites.
Chip
Mike D had a factory black US TS, and so did a few others. I recently repainted one (believed to be one of Mike D's) that was a factory US black frame with custom factory geometry to boot.

Bloody Beautiful!!

I think those are regular TS fork pegs on Mikes bike in the above photo. The pic may make them look like Buff cages - but I think they are normal. I could be wrong though.

I had a FB Trick Star and I always loved the color. It was impossible to keep clean though once you started riding on it and it turns into a dull black mess. Getting it clean again was impossible. Seeing this bike in mint FB finish brings back many memories for me. What a nice build!

Now - lets see the rest of those bike in the backround!

Thanks for the comments, To answer some of the questions:

These pics are just taken with an older 6mp digital SLR just with a good lens that I have been borrowing from a friend for the last 18 months shot telephoto thus the shallow DOF. I will be doing a proper studio shoot later in the year of the whole collection and then get them up permanently on a website.

Kerry, the story on the frame forks and bars as told to me by Richie was that this was a used MD bike which then went back to the Factory and was refinished back in the 80's. I applied the TS decals to the frame when I got it. I'll speak to Jeff Haney at some point and try and get some more info.

OK some of the collection. BTW Jay47 I smell a rat you've gotta seen the shot before to get that guess correct

This ones a bit out of date as the 2 hutch's pictured have changed slightly

The 2 hutch's in there current state

Enjoy
WULFRAN
don't have anything else to say about those pics

Dude, that bike is junky. I mean, the black isn't even smooth, it's like some kind of texture or pattern to it. And those Hutch cranks have spindles that break all the time...I've gone through 3 NOS sets in the last year.

On the reals though...incredible build. Futuristic black is the shizznit. Insane!
jay47
Yeah Dan , I was cheating , That 85 Master was mine at one time , i sold it to a guy called Andrew in newcasle who i knew ,who then sold it to you .He showed me the pics of your collection , small world ........

I can't believe the original futuristic black seat post went for so little yesterday. If I was at home, I would have bid on that.
dancti
Yeah makes me think I should have kept it, oh well.
jjmcd
Excellent build! Here are some pics of my futuristic black Trick Star (with original factory paint). The factory stickers have a black "shadow" next to the white lettering, which should be visible in some of these pics.

I think if you submit your pictures, you'll own at least 6 months of the freestyle calender, lol. Very nice collection.

There are a few documented U.S. made Futuristic Black Trickstars. The one Chip speaks of is a very special one!
The wheels on Dancti's are the real deal!! They are the actual ones pictured on Mike D's bike back in 85!!! They came from my collection and came from a local Chicago Freestyle "LIFER" along with some other very special items, many of which have been seen at Rockford.
dancti
New shot no baggy chain out in the sunshine, this may well make it onto the Freestyle calender as Rick has asked for a large version.

Thanks for the extra info Greg that's really cool that they were used by Mike.

I'm on the lookout for a set of black tech III levers if anyone wants to sell a set.
Blue_Max
very nice build, ive always liked the look of those futuristic black trickstars.
SuperK
love the TS - super clean

Hey did anyone notice on the old Hutch ad that it says
Mike Dominguez 1985 King of the Skateparks?
I thought Eddie Fiola won that- and that Mike had just been let go by Hutch-

anybody got the scoop?
Xavier Mendez
Here's a shot I took some months back for some of the VBMX people, (you know who you are) I havent forgot about you guys, Ive just been real busy. I will come through.
stuntmaster
sweet collection there dancti i knew you had a few hutch gems from what i seen you buy and what the history on the trickstar is that the woody replica one
dancti
Hi Stuntmaster,

Thanks, the Gold Trickstar I bought from Ray(Flannelcamel). I believe the VBMX raffle one is also owned by a guy in the UK also he's called Max(Gum3000) he bought it from the winner of the raffle.

Since buying Ray's build I have changed the cranks to aerospeeds and replaced the disc with a hutch. I have a set of freestyle pedals that will be going on in the coming months once they are gold plated just trying to get it looking as close as I can.

Regards Dan
joe cool on a Phaze One
Totally SICK!!!!!!!!!
KuwaharaGuy
nice bike(s) i remember seeing Mike and Woody back in action in Cali many moons ago...
