Full Version: 87 Boss survivor! ...getting out of the freestyle build drought!

Speaking of survivors... I've been putting off posting because it's taken FOREVER to dial in the rear brakes!

I scored this from ebay, the guy listed it as an 'Odyssey frame & fork'. Here's what it looked like when I got it. Decals all in tact, tiny bits of rust here and there, no dents! Looks like it could almost be all original parts too!

I finished it up yesterday evening and took it down by the river:

These Spintechs are the most ridiculous thing ever invented. The rotor part works great, but the routing system is INCREDIBLY tedious to dial in.

It took me forever to find one of these, thanks Dave Muggleston! (at least I think that's who I got it from... if memory serves) Decals are in great shape!

I love the pitbull brakes! aside from being a little on the bulky side, if you can get one dialed in they bite quite nicely!

I was trying to get a shot of the chrome blinging super hard in the sun... this was the best I could do with my dig camera.

Part's breakdown:
Boss PFS frame/fork/bars
Araya 48's w/ joytech hubs
Odyssey barefeet tires
Odyssey vpx pedals
Odyssey 2000 front brake, Pitbull rear
Odyssey Leading Edge seat
Odyssey seatpost
Odyssey rear frame stands
Odyssey Excalibur crank
Tioga Compact Disc chainwheel
Tioga quick release seatpost clamp
Dyno spintech stem/detangler
Odi Mushroom grips

Best of all, it looks great next to my other Boss!

thanks for looking!

I know what you mean about the brake setup. My Decade BITD had the same deal except mounted under the chainstays. I NEVER dialed it in halfway decent. It was a good bike except for that.

BTW, that cable coupling dealie is, and has been available at Dan's for years.

Very trick bike, and super sweet bars. I've got a pair of the race style I'd trade ya. (top crossbar doesn't drop down)

Your bike looks great. I always really liked the look of those Boss freestyle bikes.

Spintechs aren't really hard to dial in. You just have to take your time, it's rather easy. They do however seem to have a mushy feel to them, even when they're dialed. Yours is missing a part too, maybe that's why you're having some trouble with it.
Pete Q
What part is it missing?
Smokin Endo
Sweet Build Pete ! I like the chrome and blue.

Like Paul said your missing one small part from your Spintech, it's the metal piece that goes on the end of the rear cable that meets the stem top. It looks a little like the barrel adjuster that comes with the Gyros to space your cable at the lever just right. I'll look and see if I have one here for you ?

(Why can't people keep there stupid comments to them selves ? It's childish stuff like called out spelling errors that keep people from posting pics)

GROW UP !

LOL WVBMXER. Actually, that one word in particular was written in code. Just to see who could break it. I wrote it on my Enigma machine.
