Since rockford 06, I have had the great urge to build some sort of freestyle bike. The showing this year was awesome & it made me miss my roots. I have been really focusing on the BMX stuff lately, but after working with DAN on his haro site, looking around at some of the GT & Dyno sites, I just miss having a freestyler in the arsenal.

So I get a wild hair & say I'm gonna do something & then I get the Corporate WHAMO downsizing call & a brutha is out of a job.

Just sucks, because up to this point, I have been really solid on building bikes and to not have something to fiddle with, it's like quitting smoking...I'm a little jittery.

Anyway, Just needed a vent cause I'm frustrated. Glad I have a place I can do that with friends.

gotta get on the rebound....there's a build waiting

Hang in there, the same thing happened to me 3 years ago. It ended up being for the better. I now have a better job, and it forced me to get out of that job rut.. good luck to you.

My man Pep! Sounds like you need to come out to The Darkside and see your boy Jason. You know I will always have your back and just let me know if there is anything I can do to help you out. Sorry to hear about your J.O.B but you looked really healthy when I saw you in Rockfish. Keep your head up homes, good things will come your way. What doesen't kill you will only make you stronger!

Chris,

Hey, I'm really sorry to hear about you situation. It happened to me 4 years ago and it was the best thing that ever happened to me. Think hard about where you are and where you want to be - now is the time to make changes when you've got to make a change anyway.

If you need anything - give me a holler I'd be GLAD to help out any way I can.

I TOTALLY agree with Mike. If I didn't get laid off in 2000 I would still be just scraping by at a job in a very economically depressed part of the country. I had very few job options there so I was forced to relocate. It's the best thing I could have done looking back, even though I didn't want to leave at the time.
Explore your options and follow your dreams. Now is the time!

Chris,
My heart goes out to you! When we talked the other day, I didn't even know what to say. I have a few contacts, per our conversation, that I have talked to. I know it is easy for me to say this...."Hang in there, every thing will work out!"

You have a beautiful wife and kids....and every one is healthy. That is the most important thing.

Those of us that know you as well as I do....We know you are a talented son-of-b!tch. You will score a GREAT job.

Take Care,
Karl

What did you do for a living at the place you worked? Do you like what you do for a living?

I'm just asking because someone on here may have some good suggestions for you to get back on track or even make improvements.

Best of luck finding something you enjoy!

Sucks man, but it will work out.

I tell the folks I work with (and it's easy to say right now as I'm not the one in need) that no matter what happens I will get A job. It may not pay as good, might suck as a job but I will do whatever it takes to feed my family while I search for a better opportunity.

I'm sure with the good friends you have, here and at home, you'll get through this.

Lean on us if you need, we're here for you.

I appreciate the words fellas. With a nickname like PEP, I usually really fit the meaning in my day to day life.

I'm in the Marketing/Internet/Strategy business & I can't seem to think that I would ever do something else. I'm the king of conversation & love talking about possibilities for my clients & a lot of that transfers to bike building.....giving opinions, the pre planning & strategy that it takes to make a killer ride come together....they just go hand in hand with me.

We all spend out lives working at something & being a provider for our families. My wife is a stay at home mom with a 4 year old son & 15 month old twin boys also. They love watching dad wrench on the bikes. I have to watch where I lay the Hammer sometimes because for some reason, they like to hit the fresh powdercoating.....

Time will fix all of this. I'm pounding the pavement harder than I ever had in the past. I've taken this situation as a launching pad to show Corporate America that I will not sit back & let things happen to me & my family, but rather show them that they are in for the fight of their life.

You just can't help feeling like a repeated kick between the legs at first, but with the supoprt here & of my wife, I'll get there.

Here's my 84 master for my own inspiration to keep things rolling.

Pep,

I just got off the phone with Bishop Don Magic Juan and he doesn't have a problem helping you recruit a few dimes to hustle for your chedda' on Chi-town's southside. In fact, we're still trying to figure out your pimp name with Ju-Ju Frui' [all's my candy color's for'da gems & the sweetness of my 10's (you're women)] being the front runner.

Keep practicing your pimp hand because you'll be strolling head up soon enough.
