I don't think I've ever seen a post on this topic. What's your favorite brand of shoe you use or used BITD to ride with? I've always had Vans. I like the flat bottoms and they are stiff. When I get new shoes for riding it's kind of like when you go to a resteraunt and order the same thing every time. I'd like to hear what was good, what is good now, and what not to get.

Vans for flats. You can design your own now on their websight! For clips I am wearing AXO. My feet feel alot more comfortable than they do in the more typical road/mountian bike style shoe.

Vans hi-tops. I just ordered a new pair of black and white checkered ones earlier today on their website. I have a little rip in my blue ones that I have now that is getting a little bigger as the days go by, so I got some new ones coming. I did have some Nike's for a few years years ago, but they wore out and I went back to Vans (which I had all along anyway).

I wear Timberlands... "Whats up Dog!"
Swede on top too.
Never know if your gonna need to kick some ...

I wore chucks bitd and then Vans picked me up for a while. They were great.
Then I got on the vision street wear kick. (the lace up hightops with the velcro on the top were my fav's)
Now, whatever is cheap and feels good. usually low tops, though I would recommend high tops to newbies, it hurts to crack your ankle on the cranks.
Course if I really want to pimp I wear these:

first it was slip on Van, then came laced with 2 tone. We used to checker board the sides with colored electric tape before they ever made them like that. That idea came for the surfer type folders we used to make living in Hawaii for school. That was around 81-82, 82-83. I was in 7th and 8th grade. Then from 83-85 it was the Thom McAnn Jox Jag bmx shoes. 85-87 it was back to low top Vans then High tops. Now a days its whats comfortable and a good price. DC, Vans, Etnies.
Has to have good foot support, and decent sole. I love old school Vans, but they do not have enough support and I'm flat footed. So in time my feet start to hurt even from riding in them.

Right now, those low Pumas in the pic. Previosly hitop Vans. Back in the day VSW suede hitops, turquoise or just about any Nike mid/hitops. It's unbelievable how fast a sole wears just by riding flatland.

BITD I wore just about every shoe, except Vans. Just didn't like them. I really didn't care for the shoes the bmx & skate companies were putting out. I rode Converse All Star, Vision hi-tops, Airwalk hi-tops (with lace savers) and really didn't like any of them because of not enough padding. So I wore Reeboks, Nikes, & Adidas a lot more.
THEN.......
Vision came out with, what we called, DV8s & DV9s. These were more like basketball shoes with velcro and a sued lace saver. Those shoes were the bomb!!
So, getting back into riding, it seems like hardly any bmx shoe co. makes a hi-top. I've tried Etnies and Orchid, hated them both, no ankle protection. So, I did a search on ebay and found some vintage NOS Vision black hi-top DV8s, they call them 1400 series now, and that is what I wear when I ride. All the little kids love them. They are truely the best shoes I've ever worn for riding.

Glenn, Ironhide, thanks.
Yes, i was actually holding the camera on my left hand while rolling in the halfpacker position. I almost bit the camera's strap in two while going into the trick (camera was hanging from my mouth..) i would've appreciated a spare hand handing it to me and i was really nervous not to drop it.
Believe me, i tried every possible variation to get into halpacker with a live camera on board but none of them worked like the now patented "insane biting caveman method". I know, i'm weird. That's what the confused looking basketball players probably thought too. Enough of offtopic, continue. Thanks.
