OK all you GT guys and guys who just know your stuff. I have a set of GT superlace hubs " high flange style " that I want to lace up. Does any know what cross they use? I myself usually do a 4 cross race lace pattern but am guessing these probably use a 3 cross. Does anyone have a set laced up or know for sure what pattern works best for these hubs?

Having never laced a set of wheels, I'm not exactly sure what you mean what cross they use, but I'll assume you're asking how many times one spoke gets crossed by other spokes. On my 87 PFT with Superlaces each spoke is crossed 3 times. Hope this helps.
Haro#7
Sure does Melivin thanks...thats one point for a 3 cross.

OHH by the way I didnt mention these will be getting laced up to a NOS ste of blue 24" Z-rims. That is why I'd like to do the 4 cross to make them stiffer, just not sure if those hubs are designed for 4 cross.

I can't imagine those hubs NOT being able to take a 4 cross pattern.

But I'm no expert.

I agree pj, my only concern is cause the spoke holes are not in a perfect circle, every other one is higher or lower than the one next to it, so I am wondering if you do a 4 cross maybe it wont cross that first spoke but rather go behind it.

I had my wheels laced on my GT Aggressor, and I never told them which pattern. They came back 3 cross. The very first cross is very near the hub itself. I almost thought I had a 2 cross. I thought, "that can't be right or even possible" - then I looked and saw the 1st cross very low.

I blew up a picture of a GT ad, and it apears they are 3 cross....

If I am not mistaken, the GT Superlace wheels were advertised as having a 4 cross lacing. However, due to the stagered spoke holes the spokes physically only touched 3 others.

I just bought this one. Under under over. It looks like it should be over over under.
pjbaz
I agree Lou, that doesn't look right, spokes shouldn't have that kind of bend in them.
lou
I remember race lacing wheels and the spokes would have that type of a bend but the reason for the disign of these hubs are to eliminate the bends.
rlowride
mine look just like that.. have since i had them built in the late 80s... havent touched them since... still roll true and somewhat smooth..

rlowride
ahhh.. onnly the 1st two pics are worth looking at..
and dont really show the bend... but it is there..
lou
The outer spoke line goes under.
Haro#7
I agree Lou but I was gonna say it backwards " the inner spokes go over " HA HA HA And see I was right look at rlowride's 2nd from top pic, the inner spoke does go behind that spoke thats directly next to it.

So for sure they use a 3 cross pattern, thanks guys !!
