Pure Sickness Brutha !! Your in the club, just cause you got pics to prove what most of us have never seen...what a sweet bike !

BTW, is Eddie riding a turqouise Performer, or does it just look turqouise in the pic ? If it is, that would be another rare bird...

Haven't been back to this thread in a while...thanks for letting me back in the club! I actually have an RL 20II Project in the works now, so I can officially rejoin. biggrin.gif

BTW, Eddie's performer in that pic was the GT Blue, but it was getting dark, cheap 80s film and cheapo camera and you get the picture!!!

Nice RL-20II I really like the sturmey archer brake set-up!

Nice ones guys!!!!

Couple more updates on mine. This should be done soon. I just hand cut this number plate out of a small sheet of about 1/8" clear acrylic with a cutting tool for it and a dremmel to round the edges, and put the same blue vinyl sticker paper on it that I used on the frame stickers. I've got some gold Tuf-Neck stickers on the way for it and the frame as well. I'm off work until Sunday so I'm hoping to finish the brakes finally and then it's just pegs from there. I've got the back Nippon too, just not in the pix. Still deciding between a couple different sets of levers too.

Hi Guys!

I had an RL-20 when I was in middle school-an 85 in turquoise. I sold it when I turned 16 and needed gas money sad.gif . I've regretted selling that bike once I got to college. I'm now a 37 year old mountain biker. Then today, 24 years later, I went garage sale-ing. Imagine how excited I was when I found this (pix below). I tried really hard not to let my eyes bulge when they told me the price: $10! Had to buy it-the only thing that's not original are the tires and seatpost, I think. True Peregrine 48's. For ten dollars! So psyched. A little sticker damage (RedLIE, haha) But this bike has been in an attic for 20 years, it seems. Is it an 88? Lower pegs, still small.

Awesome score dude!
Looks to be an 87 RL-20A.
Looks like a 4" headtube from here. The stem is an 88 though. Interesting.

First I have to say GREAT find for $10! good2.gif Heck, for $100 it would be a great find!

It's an 87 with the lower fork pegs. The seat, tires, seat post, grips, pedals and front chainwheel are not original but those are easy to swap out.

Do you plan on restoring it? I would just clean it up and leave it as a nice survivor but that's just me.
Spicoli
sweet ridez....

10 bux thats a helluva score !!!!

I need a RL20 A sumday...

Hey guys First post here and I'm joining the Club.
Pics below are of my Survivor RL20 II
Bike evolved from an `86 Haro Sport to a Red`86 RL20 then I purchased the Chrome RL20 II frame in `87. Haro Mini seat and Cranked Aero bars (I bent the Original Redline bars) were added around `89-90. Bike hasn't changed since then. in the process of getting repop decals

BTW how can I change my username ?
donvader
I can't see your pix where I'm at right now, I'll check back later. Awesome that you still have your bike!!!

Click here about the name thing.

hey all australia here ive had this RL20 since about 88 . its an 86 , was originally radberry but some lowlife stole it from the original owner and scraped all the colour off with the back of a hacksaw blade to disguise it....... totally bummed out it hasnt got the right decals obviously but RL20 stuff is a lil bit thin on the ground down here i had it on the road with red skyway tuffs .... tioga slick tyres an alloy crank and chainwheel from a 12 speed bike so i could have a 52 tooth gear so it could haul arse ( i use to do alot of long distance riding ) a layback seat post or a drainpipe seat post and CW bars

the other night i thought i would google RL20 to see what came up and found this place IT ROCKS !!! so it has inspired me to do something with it again so i dragged it out of the back shed where its been sitting since about 96 or 97 and get some of the rust off only got half way thru and thought bugger it time to take a pic and post it on here so here it is
aluv
SWEET MAN!!!! HOOK IT UP!!!!!!!!!

Wow...it's been a long time since I've looked at this thread! Pleasantly surprised to see it's still going strong. I might have posted on this thread about a year ago (before getting my RL's together). At the time I posted a pic of me on my OG RL as a teen in 85. Here it is again:

I've since built up two RL's. I first picked up a chrome frame set (originally Radberry from what the owner told me, but it was stripped to the chrome finish underneath prior to him acquiring it). I was thinking of sending it to have it powdered all turquoise like my bike from BITD and building it up the same way. Prior to me deciding on what to do with it, the all white one with Prostyler decals came up for sale. I immediately remembered an iconic photo that was a fave of mine and what inspired me to get an RL22 in the first place. This is the photo I'm referring to:

So, I was lucky enough to get it from the seller and proceeded to build it up as a tribute, but with my own touches to suit my taste. Here is the white one:

And here is the chrome one that I ended up building as a survivor rider. This thing is dialed and rides fantastically.

Let's see some more of the RL's out there!

Awesome survior. Wish my chrome was in as good shape as yours. I love chrome....especially all chrome builds with black accents.

Here is mine.... I have had offers for me to sell, but I think I will keep her and build her up as a rider. Carpet queen would be nice too....but too expensive. Gonna try and use era correct parts, but how I would have liked it BITD.

yes
RL-20II Guy
Here are my two survivor RL-20II's. The black/chrome 87 is my original bike since 1991 when I bought it as a new frame only, from a bike shop that could not get the forks for it.

The mango (orange) is an 88, survivor. I just added the white 401 cranks.

jimhrabe
That 87 looks so sick!

My turn.

I bought mine in July 1988 and kept so far. I may even have the original receipt. I always wanted to make it ride again, simple as that, but now seeing yours I am astonished.

I have it all, but original bars and tires. There is some rusty scratches on the frame and chromed parts, but no dents at all. How do you get the stickers when you paint/chrome them again? And any hint for bars?

I exchanged the chain wheel with my GT power series (43t). Everything else is original.

How much do you guys think I can get for the pack?
