I had one of the original Turquoise RL 20 II's with no chrome on the chain/seat stays or fork. It was solid turquoise
Are you saying it came from the factory like this?
Hmmm...
Pauly...that's exactly what I'm saying! You've never seen any of the solid colored frame & fork RL20II's? They were the earliest editions and I bought mine as a combo...f/f/bars & stem. I don't have it anymore, so I can't officially join the club (totally bummed about that), but here is a shot of me and it BITD...

and here's one with me and Eddie Fiola at the Pipeline...

I second the motion on the forklifter stem. I think they are different from the frame and bars. If a guy was going to get a frame / fork / stem and bars done by Chip, I think he would be very happy. The Radberry really is different in almost every pic/video. ( take a look at the RL footage in JOE KID, his bike looks pink. Bottom line is, I think there are very few NOS parts around ( REDLINE ) so I don't think its a big deal.
When you look at my bike in person, it is REALLY hard to tell the difference, only in the sun, and since I live in Edmonton, we wont really see the sun until April. CHip does a good job.

thanks for the offer Neil but just something about trading, kinda rubs me the wrong way. hope you understand, also I spoke to chip about the radberry color, I notice the frame he did for you is alittle pinkish to it, I like the 86 color version, here's another that will put together shortly.

Chip is colour matching the 86 Radberry from a NOS set of bars - he should have it sorted out very soon.
The pinker Radberry is the early 85 colour - it darkened as they went in 86.

Neil, I sent Chip those NOS 86 Radberry bars. He is going to powder an 86 RL20II for me to match them.
The 86 RL20II used a Chrome Hatta MX-10. It is the one one with the 'muffin' top.

I'll try to get some pix of mine in the morning. I have the wheels and tires on it, a Pro Rotor now, but I still have to put the chain on. Maybe I'll just put an old seatpost on it tomorrow so I can put the seat on for the pix too, just to make it look a little more complete. Can't get to it now, but most likely in the morning.

May I join, please?? I'm building a custom OS Redline. My tight budget won't allow a factory restored museum piece so, this will be a rider. Here's my RL 20 that I recently purchased from RL-20II Guy. He's a cool dude and he's hooking me up with more nice parts - thanks Stephen! I believe this to be an '86 frame with '88 decal set. Currently, it has a later model chrome fork with an extended steerer tube to fit the 5" headtube, polished Forklifter stem, Forklifter race bars in chrome, GT laid back seat post, a Schwinn forged seat clamp (restored and hand polished by myself - it was hammered) and a new Dominator seat. The front brake is temporary soon to be replaced with vintage Dia Compe pieces. I plan to add chrome 48's and late model Flight Cranks next. I've been eyeballin' the tan wall Odyssey tires lately so, I may be rolling on those very soon. I need pedals and I'm not sure what to get. What would you guys recommend?

I know it's not that old, but it is a Redline with twin top tubes.

Looks a heck of a lot like the RL 20II but...What is this bike?
Was it made by Redline? When/where were these made? What is the frame made out of? Threaded or threadless forks?
Any other info?

This bike is a Redline FS880. It's a mid school bike and sort of a tribute to the RL20II. I'm not sure what year though.

Nice frame set, you're now a member! Yeah it's an 86 frame with 88 forks. I'm currently putting together an 86 Cali Red RL20 for a rider with the new school Flights. I'm using a set of KHE Stimulator pedals, the MKS Grafight X copies.
Here is a picture with some of the parts I have. I also have a set of Kenda K55 tires(Panaracer copy).

Thanks man! It looks like you're on your way to a nice rider too with the RL20 in red. Yeah, I saw those Kenda tires and thought about getting those. You can't beat the price to get that OS look. I had no idea about the KHE pedals. Thanks. I'll look into those for sure.
