Full Version: Do old school Odyssey gyros and cables still exist?

I had a "gt/ haro blue" odyssey gyro BITD and a family member chunked them in the can way back when (along with my PK ripper frame and Peregrine teal mags) . I've been trying to locate another gyro set and haven't had any luck.

Does anyone have a source they recommend or an extra set in their "collection"?

A black set would also be cool.

Thanks!

Trey

odyssey still makes the 1" size, but its only made in black or silver now. you can still get them from most online bike stores, but depending on the size of the handlebar your using you might need to go buy a longer upper gyro cable. the cable colors they currently still make for the gyro are black, red, blue, clear. you can get them from www.danscomp.com

I bet you could find a old colored one easy in some of the small town shops down in GA. There is stuff sitting in shops all over the South.

I dont think Dans has anything long enough to fit "old-skool" size bars...I just ordered the longest Oryg they had available and it still wouldnt fit my 06 Sport w/ 86 Haro bars...

I bought a Primo Pervert, and it works great, now I can make my own upper cables...
joe cool on a Phaze One
Damn!! I'd better head south then!! I thought the Haney's would of hit the south up by now!! HMMM!!

The newschool Gyro G3 upper cable is still available in 3 lengths: 390mm 425mm 475mm

For tall old school bars like Haros, you'll need the 475 length.
Only problem is most shops only carry the shorter length and those will not reach.

FYI: You can buy the red or blue 475 upper cable directly from Odyssey at their online store. The red and blue colored cables both have a black cable junction.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions. I'm guessing the blue that is available today is more of a royal blue and not the teal blue from the 80s. I guess I'll have to settle for blk or white cables.

Where, Henry? I've lived in Georgia for 33 years, and all of the old school shops are long gone, sadly. I know people in California think we're like the Dukes of Hee-Haw around here, and there simply must be 40 shops with NOS PKs and Hutches that the dimwit shopkeeper would give away for a can of Skoal and a handshake, but that is far from reality.

lol, so true.

yep, ebay is the source for all things out of date and hard to find. I've snagged 3- 1" gyros over the past several months for my old school builds.

I worked at a two Ga. shops back in the 80's and we carried tons of freestyle stuff. Then, in college in Athens, Ga. around 91 I was around to help clean out the attic of Dixon's bikes and purge all of the left overs from the 80's. We had a big 'garage sale' and sold tons of stuff. Of course, I wasn't interested in the bmx stuff anymore and just didn't care that there was a sweet nos robinson frame and piles of colored freestyle tires, stems, pegs, posts, seats, etc. practically being given away.
