joe cool on a Phaze One
I was looking at some raw Street Beat frames on the bay...and I ran across 2 differnt frames....here is the first item...Item number: 7250062899 and the next item is Item number: 7250200980 the first one is a 85 and the next is a 86. Did they actually start putting the brake mounts on the bottom of the frame then? I honestly dont recall that at all. Maybe I'm getting too old for this hobby..money draining pit...NOT!!

I think the mounts on the bottom have always been there, then in 87 they had 990 mounts I think.

oh so what you are telling me is that there is finally a streetbeat newer than 85 on ebay?

i had a 87 streetbeat with the grey/blue/grey scheme. it had 990 mts just like that one on the bay. it even had those taper legged forks. the only difference from the one on the bay: the one i had i got for "free"

at work il post the one i had, as i got it and as i sold it the first time (ended up getting it back, and just giving the frame away)

I mailed the seller of that '86 with a very similar query, no reply yet though.
I'm glad I bought the one I did, but I wish I'd known there was an alternative to drilling through the frame and mounting a Pitbull on the chainstays. Never saw a MK1 with mounts myself, didn't know they existed.

Newer ones do come up now & then, mosly the blue, black & chrome ones from what I can remember. There was a MK3 (I think the auction said) on the Bay a little while ago, UK seller, frame was red.

www.vert-ego.com has an MK with 990 mounts

the two tone streetbeats came with the mounts. those appeared in 86.

here are the pics:

after i got it out of a trash pile:

after i painted it to sell it to a buddy:

note how the blue is too dark and the grey is too light.

those pics were taken in 1997

85's don't have the mounts.
This site might be worth looking at:

Anyone know where I can get all the technical details (dimensions etc) on these 85 frames?

You could make an offer on this frameset: Item number: 280000463262 (If you're based in the UK?)

Monkian,
That one's expensive. There'll be others, I'm sure.

Wayne R. Thanks for your helpful insight. I'm sure it's open to offers so how can it be expensive?
Wayne R.
Ah, so only now do I notice that you're not from the US or Oz and wanting, for some weird reason, a UK resident to bid on an auction on your behalf...
Bit of a goof, I'll have to take that on the chin, bow and doff my hat.

But I still do think it's a bit overpriced at £84. Mine was sent direct from the US for about half that. Bought to ride.

Here's one that sold as an auction: Item number: 7245846971
