Full Version: My survivor | GT f&f with various parts

I orginally had a PK ripper frame back in 87 but some dumb girl backed over it, bending the rear frame and front wheel. I had everything in a box from that point on until a friend gave me a GT f&f like 12 years ago. I decided to put it back together at that point and then it sat in various different places over the years. I took it out earlier this year and rode around my neighborhood, 'bout gave me a heart attack with all these GA hills. (I'm 34).

Lots more pics here

Make sure to click "Fullsize" once you get there and enjoy the slide show.

Anyway, I just wanted to share my baby....

Thanks for this wonderful site!!

Very clean looking ride! Welcome!

Thanks! I just picked up a Haro Sport from Spicoli and plan on getting some Haro tires in blue then switching all the parts over to that frame.

Now if I could score some nice 3pc cranks and a sproket I'd be all set.

I can see now that this site will be a great addicition for me. My wallet and wife will love it!

I would like to put some NOS stickers on it but I'm not too sure what model it is since it was given to me.

Here is the serial and also note the floating 4 stamped under it.

Mach One?

GT Pro?

GT Team Series?

I dunno?

Very cool! I too like the mix of freestyle and bmx. It reminds me of how I used to set up my bikes BITD.

I guess you started early with clean rides. Your stuff is always "just right", and the bike is no exception.

I know Trey from the car world, and he's good people. I find that a lot of folks who race cars now grew up on BMX and Freestyle.

Thanks Dave! You know I do attribute my car wrenching skills to my history with bikes. I used to have a huge shop behind my house that was for my stepdad. He was a machinist and the neighborhood guys would always be over there working on bikes. We'd strip them down and sandblast them (didn't know better back then), then repaint and swap parts. We had the tools to fix any major problems that came up too.

It was a fun time that I truly miss. I learned alot back then about how stuff works. Looking back though, more time on the lathe would have been priceless.

Trey-

it's a pro (the 4) frame, built in March of 1985 ("385" in the serial).
TreyS
So it's a Gt Pro Series?

Thanks for the help.
Spicoli
looks good, but I think you need to polish up some of the "crusty rustys"...mixin the race /Freestyle stuff up, tru to the roots 85 style...
TreyS
Thanks! When I get your Sport frame soon I will move the parts to that bike but first I plan to yank the parts off and buy a 44 gal trash can, fill it with water and Wood bleach (Oxalic Acid) to remove all the rust from the GT f&f, seat post, handlebars and nuts and bolts like they did in this thread.
