Nos Dayglo Pink GT bars + Lou's expert painting skills =
So you can see here have the nos bars matched up with a sample shoot of some metal for a test...pretty close eh? More like SPOT ON!
To quote Lou in his email to me: "OH MY ****IN GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Ya Ricky...several of the NOS GT parts i have purchased were in the hopes that i could get the paint matched at some time. As long as i have money and Lou is willing, i'll be attempt to get some other stuff matched up as well. I have a nos set of the dayglo orange from 86 i'd like to have him try next...if he's willing. Lou?

LOU DONT FORGET ABOUT ME !!! I asked you about that color months ago.
So with the advancement of paint over the years....will the color hold? Or will it also fade away to show the white basecoat again over time?

as with all flourescent paint and vinyl it will fade if exposed to light within 6 months. vinyl especially, thats why its a short term useage. thats just the way it goes. the orange bikes were the best color of all IMHO. that project is going to be killer
MJ, you have some good questions and I have one good answer for both questions.
I can`t see why it won`t hold up better then the original because of todays technology and if it doesn`t you won`t see white.......there is no white!
Let me spray the bikes that I have right now then I`ll do more. I`m thinking of doing it in bulk. I`ll do about 4 bikes at the same time once a month depending on how busy I am at work. This is not the basic single stage urethane paint. There is alot of srpay time involved.

That is so hard to match too, since many of the original pinks out there, are oxidized, and lost theer color.
I had a DayGlow pink Performer, and mine was a lot litter, and it was no faded, it was very close to NOS new looking...the whole bike...

I think as these fade they get lighter in color...the pink lets more of the white through (on the originals)...that true lou?

What would you say that the DayGlo Pink was POWDER?!

I do believe all GT's around that year were powder. I sprayed the one in my gallery a few years ago. The guy says it hasn't faded a bit. My neon green Haro and a flourescent orange one I painted over 4 years ago don't seem to have faded either, and they see regular activity in the sun. Under normal use, fading has not been an issue with the colors I have used. Like the factory did, I'm using a white base with the dayglo color on top for the GT's. It appears red, orange, and pink depending on the light you look at it in. I've never seen a good example of the factory color they used, so I can't say weather I have a match.

I just got this BEAT TO HELL pft frame with some parts lot i got. It happens to be dayglo pink. Probably spent much time outside due to the extreme rust and stuff thats on it. The pink is bright...really bright...i assume it has faded and lightened up over time. I also imagine that there was some variation in the color from batch to batch due to the painting process on the dayglo's. When i get the original bars back, it'll be interesting to compare to this beat frame.
