I had the right shoulder thing last week as well from riding. I tweaked it doing fire hydrants somehow. It ached for a couple of days, but I just exercised it out. You have to deal with some aches for a while, but it will go away. It's mainly all due to the fact that you haven't performed the movements in so long that your body isn't used to it anymore. Regular pushups, jogging ,etc. is always a good idea too just to keep it all together.

I rode last night for an hour after work, but I wasn't into it like I am normally due to a hellish work week. I'm hoping for a better session tommorow night.
oldschoolrider88
great day for riding last night.....that is.....if "great riding" means beating the he11 out of your ankles and shins....ouch.
Thlayli
I got in a very short, unfulfilling session this afternoon. I just wasn't feeling it at all, and had to cut it short because A: it was really hot, and B: I didn't feel like hurting myself.

However, I basically spent Sunday through Wednesday "street" riding on my mtn bike in Yosemite Valley... but I didn't find the cool jumps until my last day there.
Blue_Max
took the haro sport out for a hour this morning and worked on a few of the easier tricks to get the hang of it again:

endo's
1 footed endos
trackstands
tailwhips
barspins
2FRESH

Went riding yesterday shooting new material for the next video. The day was very hot, however i managed to stay out there for a good 2 hours. Some progress finally:

Gripride to Backpacker which is new "combination" for me. Click HERE to watch clip.
A somewhat simple flowing move that i've seen many times but don't know the name for it, click HERE to view.

Forward switchfooted Karl Kruiser to switchfooted-one handed Sidesqueaks to switchfooted Funky Chicken to regular Funky Chicken. I'm still in a process of going from there to a no handed Crackpacker. Have nailed it once so far. The hardest part is the transition from Sidesquaks to sw.footed Funky because of the fast momentum while lifting your left foot over crossbar.

Working on a Guillotine to doublefooted Backyard glide to switchfooted Stick B (w/variations) combo. Especially the switch from Backyard to Stick B is tuff cause you need to turn 180 on the peg.

Also working on my Overtakers and especially the Undertaker to get them dialed.

Today it's simply too hot to go ride.

Most excellent Mr. 2FRESH. I like it.

I've been doing grip rides lately again just to freak out my friends that have never seen me ride. Literally, they just flip out because not one of my close friends had ever seen me ride a bmx bike until the past few months.

I'm smooth with the half packers, but am not good at the drop into full back packers yet. I'm going to put that on my long list of tricks to get down.

No riding for me this weekend, but I'm commited to riding tues. and thurs. nights for a couple hours each night.
2FRESH
Thanks Jamie. The half/full Backpackers have always been one of my favorite move. There's nothing like the feeling of freedom when you're rolling smoothly thru empy parking lots or sidewalks.
It's funny how tricks like Gripride always catch people's attention, i mean no matter how long you've just been sweating with your hardest combo, people will cheer only when they see the Griprides, Surfers or the like.

Grip ride to backpacker? Sweet.

Bringing the thread back from the depths...

Just got in a good hour and a half, first time my perplexing sore shoulder's let me get back on since... well, since the last time I posted.

Just had fun. Nice little session. Nothing new. Still happy. Might have a really cool job next week, landed a nice temp position for a week in the meantime. So it was kind of a celebratory session. I even got a couple clouds overheadf, so it wasn't unbearably hot.

Oh, and I got a small cheer for being spotted hitting a fire hydrant to decade. That was cool.

But... grip ride to backpacker? That's really cool.
jamie wright
I've been meaning to post again lately, bu tkeep forgetting. I rode for only about an hour in last couple of weeks, but I did manage an untertacker to backyard. I've had that little combo in my head for a while, so I just worked on mostly that and got it after about 30 min.

I'm hoping for clear weather this weekend for a longer session.
jamie wright
oh yeah, an untertacker is my version of an undertaker, only under the influence of poor typing skills.
Blue_Max
I attempted to try a surfer (I think thats what its called) but couldnt get up the guts to let go of the handlebars with the one hand holding it in place while standing on the bars and frame. maybe next time.

Heh, I just thought you'd spelt it German.

I rode for about an hour tonight and landed my first fire hydrant ever! Thanks to guav's video on youtube, i figured out what i was doing wrong before. I was stoked. i wanted to yell, but it was 10:45 at night so I sprinted up and down the parking garage instead. Did some megaspins, infinity rolls, and cyclones. Attempted to elbowglide, but did a elbow glide-to-endo-and-dump-the-bike instead. It was a good night.
sandy crawford
I rode again. Very sketchy. Still very fun though. Been busy at work and at home. Finding time to ride is hard with work/family/home...

I did some scuffing stuff. Hang 5s. Nothing new. I may go to the park today if the rain stops and dries up before 7pm.
jamie wright
It's been wet here in orlando most of the week and not much chance to ride. I'm hoping for a little time this weekend. I have my ramp bike ready now, so I may try out the park for the first time!

Sandy, it's nice to hear you've been on the bike again!
crowdaddy
Got any pics of that new bike yet? I'm dying to see how it turned out.
sandy crawford
I get to ride about once a week, just havent posted. Been real busy here. I have a big project due on August 1st.

I am dying to get back to the park, that was a blast. Been really hot/humid here. Temps have been in the upper 90s with around 90% humidity.

Am I the only one with sore joints, forearms, knees.....after riding. Feeling old
Mark Bell
Geez..... I guess I am gonna have to get back on my bike now to try and keep up with Sandy and Jamie..
Can't wait for the soreness....

Yesurday session at the OG. ( Oltorf Garage was HOT) I hit 3 different things I have been working on for some time. I rode in to a Hang 5 and coasted around the entire Garage. I have to get up enough speed to coast that far but I just kept on going and going and going until I got back to the point that I started. I was able to do that 3 times. Once I got back to the starting point. I turned back around and started to go back again. I ran out of steam and couldn't go any further.

2. I have been working on linking my hang 5. I was showing Deigo that I can do them one handed now. I was trying to take my hand off but it just wasnt going to happen and the tail slipped from under me and swung in front of me. I grabbed my seat and kept coasting in a steamroller. Then I got out of it. I have been trying to do that for a long long long time now. Got my first one under my belt. Maybe more will happen more often now.

3. I was coasting around in a steamroller and I was carving my self into a fwd rolling Karl Kruizer. I got all the way into it and I didn't fall iimediately. In fact I kept going for about the length of a car before I was in trouble but some how I was able to reach my back peg and roll out of that. It was the first time I have ever gotten out of a FWD Rolling Karl. I yelled out loud a big YEAH!!! I was pretty stoked to hit that trick.

I had alot of progression yesturday It feels good becasue there are many more days I just dont make any head way. So today was a MOST Excllent day!!!

Keep on Riding!!!!

Mark

Already posted this to "worldwide BMX > Helsinki/Finland my blog" but i guess it wont hurt anyone if i put it up here aswell.
My long time dream, the Rolling Overtaker is now reality ...Finally. This was the how-to i always thought was the coolest performed by Aaron Dull:

And now, 17 years later, i am lucky enough to make up my own Rolling Overtaker how-to, maybe not as stylish in 80s fashion as Aaron, but still. And written in finnish no less:

Sometimes it's pretty cool to be 32. And no, that isn't an actual magazine.

^^^Nice how-"2"

Here is a video from July 6. I am going to use it as my log of where I started. Hopefully I progress from it.

Nice VId Marc!!!!

I love the sub titles!!! Good stuff. I have footage of my self that I have yet to finish editing. I got to fit that in there some where!!!

Today I hit about 6 Whiplashes!! I was working hard on them I was trying to do more than one but one is all I can seem to get right now. I did try to do a decades again today. I got 1 more in ...but its still a struggle every time I do it. I got to get better at those.

Keep on Riding!!!

Gerry Smith was the first one to do the rolling overtaker in the AFA 88 Ohio comp. He did it after his run ended. It was really cool.
FreeEnterprise
I remember that contest.

I heard Gerry was riding again. according to Pat at flatland fuel, he picked up a bike about six months ago.

I did a smith decade in his honor.

On Sunday I took my son to PointX Camp and the owners let me have a free session on the street course and halfpipe. I haven't ridden any sort of ramp in 10 years!!!! I pulled my Dyno out of the truck and had the time of my life for about 30 minutes. I had to finally back up all the talks about BITD with my son. Needless to say my riding stamina is no where near where it was 10 years ago plus it was about 100 degrees. I kept it simple mostly hitting the mini ramp. Pulled a 360 fly out (more like a 270) on my second attempt and attempted a few tailwhip airs but no luck there. Did some carving on the halfpipe but that thing is a monster (12 feet). I'll post some pictures shortly. Now, I plan on going with both of my sons to camp next summer.

I rode for about 45 minutes last night, This time with a MAJOR equipment change - I'm on rims and spokes now. I recently broke my rear Tuff wheel snapped a spoke near the hub. So I thew on generic 36's, moved my Suntour freewheel on it. Night and Day. I don't have to "work" the front brake to get the back end up now. I used to have to shift my weight up a lot just to endo on the Tuffs.

I have some used Araya 48's I scored off the bay on the way. Those are going on ASAP.

I landed more fire hydrants.
crowdaddy
Ian I just looked at the picks you sent of your session. Your the man. Keep me posted. I hope I can make it back to the park soon. And that park looks awsome. Later
FreeEnterprise
I rode last night for about 20 minutes.

HOLY COW, where did my stamina go?

Tricks that I pulled include, fire hydrant, tailwhip, whiplash, hang 5, steamroller, boomerang, halflash to lardyard, front yard, funky chicken, dork wheelie, squeakers, fire hydrant to dork walk, rope a roni, and a couple lawnmower variations. I tried but didn't pull, stick b, coasting backyard (no room on my drive to ride in and out of backyards), and spastic fork wheelies, miami hopper, and cowboy, plus I chickened out on a firehydrant to decade...

but, man did it wear me out. It looked like I took a shower, I was soaked.

Is it just me or do you guys feel like a gladiator when you put on your hammer shins, and knee pads and pull on the gloves...

I don't know, its weird after all these years to do that again. (I learned not to forget the pads after my last crash). No wrecks last night though.
dynofish43
Oh man, I got a serious chill run down my spine when I put those hammer knee pads back on. I had my open faced Dyno helmet on but my son said he refused to be seen in public or at the skate camp with me if I wore that helmet. Guess it's a little outdated (1988) so I used his skating helmet. Just hearing the sound of the tires making that noise on the ramps brought me back to some great years.
Faded87Master
Hearing the freewheel-tire swoosh-freewheel noises bought back tons of memories for me. That and the pedal to the shin. Ha.

I floated a fire hydrant last night. I am starting to feel the point where it can start to McCircle. So I'll be trying those next. Rode so much last night that my right forearm and hand lost strength.
