Which frame and fork, to you, has the nicest styling? Forget strength, geometry, etc...looks alone.
For me, 84,85,86 GT Pro Performer.

Trickstar for me too. After that, I'd go with the early Performers

After the TS i'd probably go MCS styler with the quad chainstays...cool frame there.

May 15 2006, 02:57 PM
i think the coolest looking frame was the freestyle SE quadangle with standing gear forks, then the trickstar and definately the 87 GT pft and pro performer with the S tube

trickstar, GJS, Free agent....thats my freestyle picks.
quadangle, PK, Phaze 1... race frame picks.

I like the early Sigma's. Classic stylin and clean lines makes this beauty stand out above the rest. I liked how Huffy chose to stay away from the popular neon colors and decided on a garage paint Grey and white color scheme. The cool grey/grey color offset by the white wheel covers and components were the definition of "too cool for school".
Huffy:
"The Huffy Sigma made its mark, setting a new standard for performance in the 20 category. It offered hand brakes and disk wheel covers."
You're sure to stop on a dime with the new Tire Brakes and Anti-Tailwhip cables. Looks alone, this bike is a Killer.
END OF THREAD!

As much as I hate to ride them, Fiola's yellow GT Performer was a beautiful combination of function and flow. The graceful arc of the down tube, the seat stays flowing into a cleanly shaped platform and the fat chain stays for standing on were just perfect in my eyes.
The only thing close was the 84 master wth the tapered stays. I just loved the look.
The trickstar and Haros with built in platfoms just looked like add ons. And if I thought that about the trickstar, then you can guess how I feel about the MCS...

Bob had the best combination of form and function. His graphics were, and still are, inspirational for me.
From the 82/83 Freestylers right up to the 88's. After that - it starts to go down hill.

RL20 II & Trick star are the coolest lookin frames, I also dig the VDC & TRM frames , but there a little more exotic. Also the Kuwahara exhibitionist is way cool.

All the big names had great designs and the colors of the 80s ruled. Can't say I would ever put down any old school bike, but in the end I have to say that GT/Dyno ruled freestyle BITD. At least for me. I think it's a dirty shame what Pacific did to all those brands. Just had to say that. I think the early GT Pro Performer f/f was the best looking design, accompanied by Eddie' mohawk helmet.

RL-20II's and GT Pro Performer early ones.
They were the best looking BITD. Old School Daddy, I agree, the 80's ruled when it comes to colors!!

Eye of the beholder, dude. I always found myself looking at the "different" ones, like the VDC, MCS Styler, Free Agent, GJS...the ones that have a lot of exotic plumbing. All the top end bikes from GT, Haro, Hutch, RL, General, etc had nice lines, it's just a matter of personal preference.
What's UP with the "tire brakes"???? LOL

Trickstar - hands down. It's definitely had the best geometry at the time. Even if you didn't like the look of the frame design, there is no denying Hutch had the BEST colors and the best chrome.
Candy red, candy blue, purple reign, baby blue....all looked killer.

Of the bikes I rode (mine and friends bikes) I felt most comfortable on an 87 s-tube GT PFT.
If I was going on 'looks'/radness I'd have to say the RL20 II (of course in Hazard yellow). As well, I've always loved the ever so hard to find Ozone! I look at my old BMX Plus mags once in a while to check out the ad.

BITD, my friend and I always butted heads about which was better, Hutch (him) or GT (myself). We went back and forth for a couple of years, you know drawing GT Rules on the ol' Trapper Keeper or putting a circle with line outing GT. It was all in good fun, but could get heated at times. If he were hear today, I would still have to say that even tho the Hutch Trickstar does have a sweet flavor, the GT Pro Performer is still the better of them all.
