umm...what? I guess Woody took it back from the kid he originally gave it to and sent it to some person in the UK. Mighty generous, or indian giver? yeah. that story reeks of BS.

from what i remember in a nutshell
Woody has the OG
redline j made a tribute.
the tribute was raffled with all $$$ going to blythers bill
kerry won the raffle
a person from the UK bought it off kerry (who then split the sale price with blyther)
something doesnt click.....

Let's see... the founder of the Gumball 3000 heard about Brian Blyther's injury from Johnny Knoxville, paid his medical bill and by surprise received Woody Itson's gold trickstar. Was I supposed to eat the whole shroom, or just the cap? lol

I feel sick.
Max Cooper is a RICH mofo who races around the world on public roads with Enzo's - Murceilago's etc... He organizes all the Gumball rallys.
I THOUGHT we all donated money to Blyther by buying raffle tickets for the bike?
Kerry won the bike.... and some dude (which we were told was a bike shop owner in the UK) bought it from Kerry to hang it in his bike shop.
Kerry then turned around in a HUGE act of kindness and gave the money to Blyther as well.
Max Cooper didn't pay for Blythers insurance....well not alone anyways.
What is going on here?!?!?!

Strange indeed, since from the very beginning, the bike I built was well known by everyone to be a REPLICA of Woody's original gold Trickstar. Woody all along has told me and everyone else that he still has his original gold Trickstar that Hutch himself gave to him.??????

I am dying to here what Maximillion knows about that bike!
The weird thing is, I always looked at Max as a wicked cool guy because I'm almost as obcessed about exotic cars as I am about vintage bmx/freestyle. I never even knew he was into the bmx/freestyle scene. I even have various videos on his Gumball Rallys. They are sick!

Thanks for the link bedlam. I had no idea what the gumball race was all about until my co worker just informed me. Turns out jackass taped a show around one of the races. I just screened it and they have some amazing cars that enter into it. Must be nice to have that kind of cash and time to kill!

I would bet hew made it all up trying to make himself seem not only rich and cool, but CHARITABLE of all things. My guess is he may be a millionaire but he's got some ish going on when it comes to his esteem. I mean who would lie about paying someone's medical bills?
Why would Johnny Knoxville tell Max about BB and how would he have known?
I do love me some gumball videos. It's almost painful to watch for me...most of those people in the videos are oil barons, media owners, shipping heirs...like, stupid rich...so rich that it can't compare to normal rich. I get depressed about it....LOL.

After the raffle was OVER, and the winner had been drawn, Woody and I were then contacted by this guy Max. Then, the winner was presented with an offer to sell the bike to Max and give a portion of the proceeds to Brain if he chose to. In the end it helped Brain even more. But, it is flat out not true that Woody's original gold Trickstar is anywhere but in Woody's possession.

Kerry is the one helping Blyther with the bills!! Kerry and all of us who bought tickets!

Wow cool story made me giggle...brian p has it exactly right as far as i know.redline j,woody, kerry, and every person that bought a tickit i could never thank enough.Max paid good money for it and kerry donated half.Woody and redline j set that up.I have never told anyone how much the bike raised because it doesnt matter. To me it was embarassing but the coolest thing that has ever happened to me.I will tell that this site helped me get a job and that was what it was about.I was not able to be hired with that debt.Cant believe everything you read i guess because after all was done i still owed over a 100 g's.
Hey by the way i have paid my bills and im debt free now.I dont care what is said or what the media changed.I still wake up every day blessed i can walk, ride, run and live normal.Nothing can change how lucky i am to not be in a whelchair for life.I wish max good luck in whatever he does or says.I do like how you guys got my back this stuff gets to yall more than me.Im working on at least buying you all a drink i already started be patient.bb

Hi All, I just got a mail from Badlam Bikes to alert me to all this talk. I had no idea what this article had started and can only apologise if its offended anyone, particularly Brian, Woody, or any of the people that helped Brian out, Jeff, Jack, kerry, etc... never meant to, I think the article is somewhat misleading as its been condensed and hyped to be an 'interesting story' for the newspaper. (I've only just read the article from a posting above - I wasn't aware it had gone to print or what it said til now). Anyway, to hopefully put a cap on alot of the speculation above - I'm fully aware the bike is the one Jack built, and yes I bought it from the raffle winner, with the intention of the money going towards the medical bill - purely as a gesture to help out - as Brian was indeed one of my childhood heroes - I never meant for any article like this to come across like i was rich enough to just pay the bill off - I'm not - I was just trying to do a good thing. You have to bear in mind the article is for the Observer newspaper (a UK business paper) - and a 3 hour interview is condensed into a small paragraph, and to be honest the whole story is jumbled. I told them that Woody has the original (and I even that was given by Hutch, not the ABA, so no idea where that came from?), but if you imagine that the person interviewing had hardly heard of BMX let alone the people or bike in question then its hardly suprizing the facts are a little out. I've also no idea why they mentioned Johnny Knoxville (probably to get a celebrity name in there), they know I'm friends with him - but again he never told me about Brian, I don't even think he knows Brian - he wasnt really into bmx. Another thing, whilst the Gumball is full of fast cars and wealthy people I'm by no means 'some millionaire' - I am trying, but haven't got there yet. One thing she did get right, is that when the bike arrived - I did feel like a kid at christmas - and the bike is now proudly displayed at home, although I have done a quick cherry picker on it just to prove I still can! I hope this has sort of set the record straight, and I apologise again if its upset anyone. I love to ride, and still do each day.

To continue... wow I've just had the time to read all the posts above and I'm shocked at the aggression some people have about this. I certainly didnt mean to cause this response or mislead. And I certainly am not about looking good by doing charity, this wasnt charity, I was just trying to help out a little. If anyone wants to continue any conversation (as I dont get chance to get on this website very often) then they are welcome to email me directly at maximillion@gumball3000.com By the way, the back tyre wasn't flat - I rode to the photo shoot and home again. Max,
Good enough for me! I really appreciate it that you registered on here and set the record straight.
A lot of us were obviously freaking out as we take this hobby and the vintage builds that come from it very seriously. You have an extremely special bike there, so treat her well! Apparently you already did, as I guess you saved it from a fire.
Again - I apologize for my "lethal" email I sent to you, but it looks like something good came out of it in the end.
Next time the Gumball passes me by at 150 mph, take a second to stop so I can shake your hand. I'll be the guy holding a huge "vintagebmx" sign above my head!!

Hey Max,
Thanks for setting the record strait...didn't mean to be too harsh and I apologize for anything overly caustic. I suppose it figures that some liberties were taken by the reporter to make the fluff piece a bit more spicey....I thought only U.S. media outlets distorted the truth that badly! Good luck with the future Gumballs!
[EDIT] - I just emailed a personal apology as well...I feel like a dick, but I guess it's easy to judge before all the facts are in. I'd probably make a bad Lawyer![end EDIT]
