Here's a quick summary for those who are not familiar with this contest:
Last fall, Skyway found a bunch of old NOS non-finished Street Beat framesets dated from 1985 in the back of their storage area at the factory. They sold them for 30 bucks a piece to members of Vintagebmx. People were buying them up like crazy. I figured "lets have a build contest with these frames."
The rules were simple: You had to use Tuff wheels and no mega-priced parts were allowed. Aerospeeds - Hutch pedals - etc... Other than that, everyone was free to let their imagination run wild. The deadline was April 1.
10 bucks a man - winner take all.
We are now voting for the best build. There are 27 total bikes divided into 4 heats for the first round of voting.
Please check them out and cast your vote!
Thank you.
Jeff

problem is round #4 - I am waiting on 3 bikes still. If they don't show that'll change the total number of bikes in round 3. I'll have to divide the totals a little differently, get it?

I agree. It didn't get my vote because of it. Otherwise - AWESOME!
All the bikes thus far have just amazing. I'm really digging the original paint schemes and decals on many of these.
As a spectator here - great work guys!

Just tuning in to vote, I look in this forum like twice a year and had no idea this was going on, great contest idea!
The creativity shown here epitomizes freestyle. Even a dusty ole' racer can appreciate this.

Why do the guys who are late to submit photos
get to compete ?
Don't they get an advantage by seeing the photos
of the other bikes
Just my 2 cents
No harm intended

Pickle - They have very good reasons.
For instance: One needs to borrow a better camera. I've already seen the bike and the pics were terrible. He is taking them today.

I’m amazed at how awesome most of these builds turned out! Admittedly, I’m a high-zoot component junky, but these rides turned out incredible even with the restrictions. It’s all imagination and taste to determine the winner here—cool!
I’d have been in there too, but I have too many projects in the works already. I even figured out the exact parts/color breakdown to a tee. Maybe it’s best I didn’t ‘cause I wouldn’t have had a chance against some of these creations.
C’mon, where’s round 3 already?!? The suspense is killing me

I've decided it's best to vote on the initial response I have to seeing them...seriously, if I spend any more time looking then I truly can't decide.
These rides are amazing for sure...just an awesome event with some crazy creative people involved.

Way cool stuff. Tough to vote really. While one might have the cool color combo another may have some awesome details. I find myself giving more credit to the bikes that look truly rideable. Like: "if it was 1985 could I pull that out and ride it in a contest against Dennis McCoy and Dave Nourie?" Can't wait until the builders are revealed and we can have a little Q&A on them.
Yeah, the creativity on the stickers is awesome!

Really great builds, This was the hardest set of bikes to choose from.
I was waffling between 4 and 6, but I finally went with 4 because of the nippons. I guess I will always be a dia compe guy.
I used those odyssey brakes once, they had more flex than a body builder.
I loved the chrome accents on #4 though.
Amazing builds guys, really really good. It was really hard to pick one out of each set.

Big thumbs up to all those entries! The customizing is great. You should all be proud. Building something expensive or exotic is easier, you just need deep pockets, but to build these takes a vision. Awesome....
