..got this Osborn Pro frame through a member here..grey with cracks on both sides of the headtube gusset and seat tube and with both rear stands hacked off. BITD I would take the right side frame stand off 'cause it hit my foot durring locomotives..luckilly I happened to have a Blood Pro frame with both standers in tact..a little tig welding later I have two Generals with left standers only! I also stripped the paint..was gonna paint it 1/2 black, but I may leave it chrome..I forgot how hard it was to get stickers off a General!!..yet the paint just falls off....

Pauly
Awesome man... glad you finally got one. Was tha 91Master's?
donvader
Nice job with that rear platform. My friend Joe had a real nice red and chrome one BITD. It does look pretty good all chrome though. Have fun with it!!!

If you buy cracked frames, I guess you would stay away from certain kinds of breaks if you planned on restoring it right?

...nope...if it's metal I can fix it...and there is something so right about cutting up a Blood frame fix a Osborn frame!
joe cool on a Phaze One
How much to you charge for welding?? I have some Hutch rear frame standers a friend of mine cut off his Trickstar...would like them welded on one of my other bikes.
raul
Looking good so far Jay. What shape is the chrome in?
rockabillyjay
..the chrome is ok, but I had to grind it off on the gusset and rearstand area to weld..probably wont rechrome since its gonna be a rider with a missing frame stand!..and..I dont really weld on anybody but my stuff..Im sure there is a local welding shop that can do that for you cheap..it should take about 10min!!

STRIKE is gonna be jealous.....BIGTIME!!!!

Hey Jay,
Do you have any pics of your old General? You're going to build this one up like the one you had bitd, right?

I know what you mean, I thought I would never get the old decals off of this frame. Actually, I still have to get a little bit of decal adhesive to remove off and I used all the usual methods like WD-40, Goo-Off, etc. I've never run into decals that were that so tough to remove, lol.

CSquare43
Raul, for future reference, use a hair dryer to ease in removal of decals. turn it on & blow the air toward the stickers...then after you've given it awhile to warm (a few minutes or so), remove the decals...this helps keep the residue to a minimum.
raul
CSquare43, tried that as well, lol. I'm guessing the adhesive was just some really tacky stuff.

...still searching for pics of my old bike...I think this one will have a few modern touches...General used the strongest sticker adhesive known to man!!..Raul, post some pics of your Generals for some insperation!

Ok...why do you guys always insist on refinishing everything??? That gray one in Raul's pic looks to be in pretty good shape - why not keep it original? It will only be original once.....
raul
LOL
You must have me confused with someone else, I don't own anything that has been refinished, all my stuff has original paint (chips, scratches, etc.) and decals. I'm a big fan of survivor bikes, so I wouldn't have touched the decals if they were salvageable.

It looks pretty good now, but it was in pretty rough shape when I got it. Oh yeah, that's the original paint, I haven't refinished it. It's simply getting new decals after a thorough scrubdown.

It had lots of rust, and decals were extremely faded and cracked. Here's a pic that shows where someone used silver spray paint to try to cover the rust!

It's cleaned up pretty good, aside from some slight pitting.
