One of the guys @ work says to me yesterday "I saw one of those bikes you collect @ a garage sale" So today my sister was in the area so I had her stop to check it out. she called me told me it was pretty beat and she couldnt tell what it was but it was chrome and had a GT sprocket, price $40, so I told her to grab it.
I cant find any markings on the frame, but the welds are perfect, and it is pretty light, the forks look tweaked, Im thinkin of just cleanin it up and using it for my thrasher.
Anyone know what kind of frame this is ???

Looks almost like a WalMart job. However, those appear to be Suntour XC-II Pedals.

I was thinkin it could be a cheapo frame too, but it really looks like the frame was put together better than the walmart bikes Ive seen.
I think the pedals are xc type pedals there stamped "lu 393" they need cages, but are in good shape other wise.

reminds me of some cheapo mongeese from the mid to late 90s. if it's not a mongoose, then it might be something out of the same taiwanese catalog.
junk, imo.

It also looks like a Dyno knock off.

I just pulled off the seat clamp and the post is welded in, so I probably wont be doin anything with it.

Those look like early 90's GT forks from the dropout design. The rear brake bridge also looks a lot like my 92 Pro Freestyle Tour. Is GT stamped on the frame or fork anywhere??

JT, she actually found it in Charlotte, across from the High school.
If its a DMC "Mongoose" I suppose it might be worth keeping. No GT stamps anywere Paulie, I was thinking it looked a little GTish too...

I found one similar in the garbage last spring. It had Royce Union decals.

It is not a DMC or hooligan.Just a cheap department store goose.I have had at least 10 of them that I have given to local kids.Probably worth about $0.40 .

It looks like a Pacific freestyle bike. A kid I know had one, he's 16 now and it was old when he got it. I was fooled at first glance into thinking GT myself, but it was too rounded and said "Pacific" on the downtube anyway.

Yea , I paid about 40 bucks to much for it , but if I wouldnt have had my sister buy it, it would have turned out to be an original Haro Freestyler or somthin...LOL Oh well , I guess thats what happens when you buy stuff without seein it.
Anyone know what the deal with the clamp is ??

the only part worth anything would be the gt "flycutter" sprocket....
about that weird seatpost clamp...
it might not be a seatpost clamp, possibly a headset lock..

They also had a Schwinn with the 3 speed shifter i wanted but $75 for the bike was a bit much when all i want is the shifter assembly.

That's a big oshakosha gusset! Looks like the ones on the Poverty bikes Dan's sells. The seat clamp looks like a part of a sink or bathtub. Clean it up, you could flip it for 40 to someone looking for a bike for their kid, who can't afford much.
