Wurd...super nice survivor. Painted survivors in that condition are rare indeed. You need a padset!
87PC
Mar 12 2006, 01:01 PM
Thanks guys. A set of pads would be sweet. It is not flawless by any means. The bars and brake levers have the worst of it.
pjbaz
Mar 12 2006, 01:36 PM
Are those levers Tech 7 or 77?
Canuck - Anthony_B
Mar 12 2006, 02:10 PM
tech 7's....
Nice find - here is mine:
Not quite as nice as yours, but may get redone some day.

Good question, I am not 100% sure, they have Dia-Compe and 182 stamped on them?
pjbaz
Mar 12 2006, 02:39 PM
They sound like Tech 7's...Do the levers have a "puzzle piece" connection where they clamp to the bars?
If so, take them off (if you plan on riding this bad boy) and save them as they go for decent $ even in used condition. They were prone to breakage I believe so they're hard to find in good shape now.
Canuck - Anthony_B
Mar 12 2006, 02:48 PM
They are definitely tech 7's.

They do fit together like a puzzle. I now remember what the 77's look like, they have to be 7's. Thanks for the advice.

Sean that bike is SICKO ! was it local ? That Pro Compe is going to look sick sitting next to it. Here is one I picked up off a friend and after next weekend I'll post some better pics with some better parts
87PC
Mar 12 2006, 05:44 PM
Hey Brian - yeah it was local, 5 mins from work. Yours is sweet too. Better parts? You have a set of Power Series for it? Looks like it has all the good parts already! Speaking of the Pro Compe (my personal Holy Grail bike) I will prob take you up on those other black parts if you still have them. Thinking of going all black the opposite of Hudson's sweet PC.

Hey Guys, I found this one in my bedroom, it's survived 12mths since restoration.
87PC
Mar 12 2006, 09:00 PM
Dang, that is SWEET. Which brings up the question, to restore or not to restore? You shrink wrapped the tires?
Hudson
Mar 12 2006, 09:59 PM
I've never seen that....shrink wrapped tires. It really dry there or something?
ROBERTO
Mar 12 2006, 11:55 PM
I can roll around the house on it without getting the tires dirty....well I used to untill I built my rider .....

I can never see enough 87 Pro Freestyle Tours. Nice score. All beautiful bikes in this thread. Roberto, your chrome rider looks incredible.

Mar 13 2006, 12:17 AM
Thanks Melvins army! I never get sick of looking at 'em either.
87PC what will you do with you beautiful survivor?
Smokin Endo
Mar 13 2006, 07:57 AM
Scott if that's the case where's your pic ? LOL
Roberto I love your bikes ! You build with excellence and to perfection without missing any details! Nice work !
Sean Good question ? I'm in the air about this one too ! I think I'm going to leave mine the way it is but I'm unsure at this point ? I have two of them so I may leave this one and restore the other one. My other one was an original Team model and is already stripped.

Coming by one was hard enough, having two must be nice.
For now I am going to leave it as is, probably replace the gyro and front brake cables and put some new brake pads on it. They do look nice all painted up like they were fresh out of the box though.

Brian, ask and you shall recieve.
Here's my baby. All she needs is some new grips.

There you go ! Was that so hard LOL Hey you comin to Bri's on Saturday ?
melvinsarmy
Mar 13 2006, 12:49 PM
Brian has something going on this Saturday? I didn't know. I'm working Tuesdays thru Saturdays now. This summer I'll have a month or two of Monday thru Friday.
Smokin Endo
Mar 13 2006, 12:58 PM
Yup ! So you can't come huh ? That sticks ! I haven't seen you since Steve's ! Work is always getting in the way of BMX ! You need to just quit your job man ! LMAO
melvinsarmy
Mar 13 2006, 02:00 PM
Yeah, it sucks for stuff like this. It's actually better for me on a regular week though. Saturdays are usually slow at work (unfortunately not lately) and having Mondays off means I can go grocery shopping, do the laundry and paint without dealing with everybody on the weekends. I just saw Brian's post in the get together forum. I have hardly anything to trade, and about the only thing I need is grips. But, it would be nice to hang out.

87 pc....another benefit of GT ownership is that you have all the parts that can easily be changed over to a Dyno Pro Compe if you ever need.

I like Melvins bike. What colors were used in 87?

Man I"m starting to want a GT. very nice bikes. A chrome one Like Roberto's would be nice.

Mar 13 2006, 09:55 PM
Great pic Roberto, it's nice to see it put to good use. My bike is lucky that my freestyle talent dried up a long time ago, and is now assigned only to cruising duty.
Thanks lou.
Here's the list of colors I know of for the 87 GT freestyle bikes:
Pink
Light Blue
Black
Chrome
White
Those are the ones I know of off the top of my head. There may be others as well.
ROBERTO
Mar 13 2006, 09:57 PM
Lou...
Day-Glo Pink
GT Blue
GT Lavender
White
Black
Chrome
Black or chrome were the only colors to feature black parts and tires which are ideal for riders.
Smokin Endo
Mar 13 2006, 11:06 PM
Day-Glo-Orange too Sweet pics !
lou
Mar 14 2006, 08:27 PM
Mine is pink but I want the Day-Glo Pink!!! Does anybody have the Day-Glo Pink? Can I borrow a piece of that so I can make a fomula? I`ll pay for all the shipping plus your effort.
ROBERTO
Mar 14 2006, 08:36 PM
I don't think it's available in powdercoat, at least no one in Australia can supply it.....ask chip on that one.
I know that AJK gets his Day Glo Pink sprayed with a clear on top by someone, give him a buzz.
lou
Mar 14 2006, 08:42 PM
I paint not powder so i`ll mix up a fomula. I think Chip did do one.
ROBERTO
Mar 14 2006, 08:50 PM
Do you paint you own bikes Lou? Are you a spray painter by trade? Just curious... I powder coat but have always wanted to learn the art of spray painting so that I can match special colours.
lou
Mar 14 2006, 09:07 PM
I spray this for a living

And spray this for fun
ROBERTO
Mar 14 2006, 09:32 PM
Wow Lou! That's some incredible stuff you got going there. Good work, I can't wait to see your GT when it's done, I might even send you one to paint in Day Glo Pink....a bike that is....lol.
