I really just wanted to use these wheels finally. I got them from Lou for a Ceppie Maes bike that I never did build up, but I've been wanting to do something with them. They're a little weird, so why not use 'em on one of the weirdest frames that I have. I may switch out a couple parts in time, but here's my 1st gen Styler.

Anyone watch Ghost Hunters? Check out my orbs in the next two pix. (yeah right)

That is only the 3rd bike that I own without mags. Here's my other, 2nd gen, just for the heck of it.

Great Builds

Love the frame shapes !!

Wow they are really cool. I love those front hubs. Don't see them down here. How well do they work compared to a caliper brake on the front? What are they called also?

Sweet ride, and those hubs are trick...

Glenn, those are Sturmey Archer hubs w/ built in drum brakes. I dont think you see them much anywere, they are some rare pieces...

Don,
You know I'm a big fan of the first gen. MCS Stylers!! Not how they ride, just how they look!

I remember I used to want one of those front hubs when I was a kid! I thought Ceppie's were awesome. So - how do they work??
COASTY
Oh I've heard of them. I have seen 1 set on an old style cruiser in a little seaside town not far from here. I thought they looked cool then.
Again stunning build mate.

one of my friends i rode with bitd used to ride those brakes..the worked good for old tricks, grabs real nice too...

those Sturmey's stop on a DIME!!

way better than any caliper brake.

only thing is, theyre a bit on the fragile side.

Did Ceppie's Sturmeys look like the ones picuted? As I remember them they had the braking mechanism on the left side, just like these, and then there was a high flange on the other side, but inbetween they were skinny like normal hub. Maybe he used different kinds during different years.

What year are those from?

These are drum brake hubs, but not the Sturmey's exactly like Ceppie had. Still, I got the front ones working perfectly, having a little trouble with the back though. Maybe something to do with the Rotor, not being able to pull far enough? I don't know, but I got the front working good. Not sure what year they're from.

Ceppie`s drums wee more fragile than these. These are the old Schwinn Stingray drums. Very rare to find a rear one. I bought those as a set, lucky me. They look great on that Don. Weird wheels for a weird frame. What did you do with the black CW?

Cool builds Don.....Those hubs are sweet.

love the clean look with no calipers.
i have one of those frames but my forks have welded on pegs up high.
anyone have any blue and yellow stickers for those. if i could find those i would build it and bring it to rockford.

Killer scoot! There is a special place in my heart for Stylers. They are beautiful in a wasteful tubing way.
