I remember a magazine cover with I believe it was Vander doing a layed out trackstand or something similar on a green Dyno with Orange Tuffs. Anyone remember that or have a scan?? Pretty sure it was in 85 and was not Freestylin or Plus! Can't remember which mag it was. Anyone?

He passed away about 15 years ago now. You can read the details on Maurice Meyer's site.

RIP Vander

Thank you Drob! I thought it was green.

Those do kinda look peregrines in Josh's pic. Yeah they did make em in blue, I think someone around here has a set.
Pauly
Hmmm... anyone have any leads on orange/blue A'me Unitrons?
Pauly
Are those blue comp st's or black?
Maurice Meyer
No problem for the scan. I already had it up on my site. I'd say those are blue tires. Are you going to do that whole bike plate and all?
Pauly
I'm not sure. I've kinda been looking in to doing a few tribute bikes lately. I have an early Dyno frame/fork and with the new production orange tuffs out I figured that would be a cool build... I don't think I'd go as far as imitating the plate though.

Check out Vanders bike one the BMXA cover. He has a Potts mod routed front brake but no potts mod thru bolt! What's that all about? Perhaps he snapped a stem bolt and installed a solid bolt because he didn't have a thru bolt lying around...

Pretty cool how he had matching orange and blue pants.

Good luck finding those grips.

I used to run my front brake cable like that before getting a potts mod bolt. With the cable like that you can actually spin your bars (or frame) 360 degrees and still ride away... the cable gets tangled but not as bad as if you would run it in the normal way.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that those are red mags, and red/blue Unitrons and Dyno pants.

I ran that same cable routing as well. But it had nothing to do with performance or anything, just laziness! I had to put on a new front cable one day & was in a hurry to get out & ride, so I didn't bother taking the time to slip it through the stem.
Here's a pic the cable is the thin black line starting at my elbow:
