Suntour 48 hole hubs are pretty rare now right? I used to use one 15 years ago and just wanted to build a coaster brake wheel for a few tricks I've been jonesin to do again (kickturns, pedal pickers, wilton rollarounds). Does anyone know of another brand of 48 hole coaster hub that would work good for freestyle? I might go for 36 hole if I can't find anything else.

I've been searching for one of these too. I found a no-name brand as part of a built wheelset off ebay. But I want a Suntour also, so I can use a freecoaster. People tell me they pop up from time to time but I haven't seen one yet in 6+ months of looking.

http://cgi.ebay.com/20-REAR-WHEEL-48-SPOKE...1QQcmdZViewItemthis is the only 48 hole coaster hub that i have seen on ebay in like a year and a half. Looks like a piece of crap but i couldn't complain for 20 bucks. I have seen alot of 36 holes in a variety of colors, but no 48's
here is one for a Tuff 2:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Skyway-Tuff-II-Suntour...1QQcmdZViewItemI know someone out there has all the suntours sitting on a shelf. Soon they will be on the Bay for hundreds of dollars.

I've been looking for a friend for a few months. Been close twice - but no cigar.
Where does that phrase come from anyway? Close but no cigar?

Close but no cigar came from early slot machines. They used to give cigars as prizes. Im not that smart...i googled it.

About three years ago I won a Suntour 48 hole coaster hub NOS with a freecoaster cog on it for $25. I asked the guy if he had more and he said he had three more....I got all four for $100 with ACS freecoaster cogs. At the time I thought this would probably never happen again so I was stocking up. If he would've had twenty I would've bought them all. The four I purchased are all on bikes and I traded one shell for another part I needed. The only thing rarer than a NOS Suntour 48 hole coaster hub showing up these days is a Standard 48 hole coaster hub. I've only seen one in my life. I'll tell you this, there's alot of people who want a 48 hole Suntour hub/shell.

I emailed that eBay seller about the wheel, he said the coaster brake was a no-name chinese made hub. I read that Skyway might be making some coaster brake Tuffs, I wonder what kind of hub they'll use, or will they just put a freecoaster in them?

I have standard shell and a hub that was made by poverty I think. Both have the freecoaster set up. I also have one or two of the standard free coaster washer things. It goes inside the hub to make it a freecoaster. Poverty is a Dans Competition parts company I think?

If your just goint to use it as a freecoaster anyway, Why not just get a 3/8" 48 hole Nakani hub? $99 and bullit proof. or on the cheep get a Taska 3/8" 48 hole from flatlandfuel for $25.

I do plan on building a Nankai freecoaster wheel but I still want a regular coaster brake so I can bust out some pedal picker action. Suntour coaster brake guts won't work in a Nankai shell will they?

48 hole CNC coaster shells would be cool. And in anodized colors. Would aluminum be strong enough for a coaster brake? I'm not as light as I was when I was a teenager, I'd hate to see an explensive hub explode.

Even if someone just made 48 hole flanges that could be pressed onto a Suntour/Shimano coaster hub that would be cool.

Profile makes a shell (36H or 48H) specifically for Nankai guts. If I had one of those and an Suntour coaster brake hub to play with.... might be worth a look.
