Nor -cal-flat-land-since-1984 , Thanks for the pics ,would it be possible to get a shot of the underside of the headtube gusset .The reason being , it should have a gap/cutout where the gusset meets the headtube (see pic) . All other Gen 1 freestylers are welded all the way around this point (except early models) .Basically your serial no tells us its early and should have a gap underneath like this...
flapjaqz
So, how many FIRST gen haros are registered so far?
the torker type originals with the blue/green decals?
I have a first gen w/ original fork.
I am debating on what to do with it still.
the frame has a concerns, small crack at the bottom of the seat post mast right at the "slice"
and the fork has a slight crack starting in the bend of the dropout...but it might be just a chrome split since it dont go all the way through the back of the metal.
anywho, I will need to move some things out of the way to get to the frame and get a serial number off it.
I might also take an offer if any body wants to
pony up some cash.email me (flapjaqz@peoplepc.com)

I mistakenly posted my reciept for my haro on a different thread. My serial number was TXX 442 F and I bought it in Sept. of 82. A biker climbed up a palm tree and went in through the bathroom window to steal it out of my apt in Imperial Beach, CA back in 88, so no chance for any photos.

Does anyone have a US Haro they want to add?

Hi all

I recieved a PM.....

quote:
I was thinking the other day, when I thought I had found a Gen 1 Master, can you work out how many Gen 1s & Gen 2 Masters were made ? I know there are only 20ish that you know of to still be around, but it would be nice to know how many were made.
..... and thought that this might be interesting to some of you!

So, from what information has surfaced so far.

There would of been built - 001 to 821 Gen 1 Freestylers. (I need to confirm if 821 is a Gen 1 F or Gen 2 F - but believe it to be a Gen 2 F). There may also be a chance that there where variations of the Gen 1 (but proof is required).

So a maximum of = 820 Gen 1 Freestylers

There was between the sequence - 821 and 3882 (and not many more as the Gen 1 Master starts soon after) Gen 2 Freestylers.

So approximately = 3061 Gen 2 Freestylers

There was between the sequence of 3924 and 4599 (and not many more Gen 1 Masters as my Gen 2 is also July) Gen 1 Masters.

So approximately = 675 Gen 1 Masters

There was between the sequence of 4754 and 5931 (and not many more as production went overseas for the next NON TORKER BUILT Masters) Gen 2 Masters

So approximately = 1177 Gen 2 Masters

There was between the sequence of 0001 and maximum of 0440 (as the new date code came out for the Gen 2 Sport) Gen 1 Sports

So approximately = 440 Gen 1 Sports (Personally I think this could be quite a lot less)

There was between the sequence of 0441 and maximum of 0459 (and not many more as production went overseas for the NON TORKER BUILT Sport) Gen 2 Sports

So approximately = ?00 Gen 2 Sports (As a guess 200?)

Hope this helps.

Just picked up what I believe is 2nd gen master serial # T 10846004 M . Should it have a gusset in back of the bottom bracket? Not to familiar with the older masters my 85 has it this one doesn't.
DansHaros
The serial # says its a 2nd Gen, but it should have a gusset behind the bottom bracket. Post a pic.
zimo
I got it off craig's list in CT, not to sure of the history. I got it as a complete bike Master f&f, Vector Haro signature bars, white coaster tuffs nothing else really worth mentioning.

Here are a few pics

no gusset behind bb?

Zimo , that frame is crazy.....no gusset and it doesn't seem to be Knurled on the rear dropouts ,Those guys at Torker could be real lazy sometimes , Very strange that frame .Thanks for posting up pics ,very nice find and looks like you have a pretty rare frame their ,I'm just wondering if any of the other 2nd gen masters are the same.
jay47
Just so you know what most 2nd gen frames look like , here's mine .To be honest , seeing a frame with no gusset doesn't surprise me though ,It is one of the very last 2nd gen's , possibly the missing detail to the frame was a result of the master being made overseas and Torker cutting back , only a guess of course ,who knows?????

Hi all

I have been working on the Haro list again (about another 5 new additions of Gen 2 Freestylers). It is nearly finished apart from the new additions / finds as and when they arrise.

I have set up a Haro account on photobucket and it will have a section / folder for each bike. In each section there will be all the pictures that I can find - pre restoration, current pictures and also pictures built up by previous owners etc etc.

I think this will be a great information guide, and I'm sure most will agree.

Can you please reply on here with all the pictures that you have of your Torker Built Haro's. These include ones that you may now of sold on / traded etc.

Can you please reply with serial (this is very important) and then all pictures.

Thanks

Hi all

Hopefully it should now be live -

http://s191.photobucket.com/albums/z96/Haro_Registry/

Just need all the pictures please.

I will update each folder as time allows.

(If you find any broken links, access issues etc - please notify me.)

I will also link it all up with the Haro Registry in time.

Please keep the pictures coming.

I can also send out the new list (it is all linked up now to the pictures) to Haro owners - (NO DATA will be sent to people that I, or others do not know).

I hope you will all find this useful, I know that quite a few pictures have been lost overtime due to broken hard drives, members deleting accounts etc and think that these bikes should be recorded - I hope you all agree.

Got another one to add for you:

TSS 1138

It's in Swindon (UK) and I always thought it was an '82. But judging from the list so far, my memory has probably tricked me ;-)

Not sure what this tells you. Not sure what I can learn from it. Is it 1st Gen Torker, as I have been led to believe?

Hi all

It is interesting about the ZT Serial. This proves that the sequence for Month and Year was always in reverse order as worked out previously.

The month of build, I always thought was about two months late and as more biked have been found think this is correct.

What is missing now though is a Y (Month and Year) Gen 1 Freestyler.

Using the two codes for -

ZT 0015 F
ZT 0019 F

We can read this as Z for manufacture date (Month and Year) as usual, we then have the T for Torker, followed by the four digit 0000 build number, with the F.

With a Y manufacture date we would know when the serial format was changed and how many of the earliest got manufactured.

So, the Y serial, would have a maximum serial of 105 and would either read –

YT 0105 F

Or would be in the later format (the early bikes here though with the normal serial, are only a three digit build number) –

TYY 105 F

It would be e interesting if Torker or Haro know of why the serial number format changed.

I have only gone through some of the data very quickly, but think there is an error with Gen 2 Master - T 08844541 M

This bike has no pictures and has a lower serial number than my July 84 Gen 2 Master which doesn’t add up – typo, or misread serial?

http://s191.photobucket.com/albums/z96/Har...2008844541%20M/

Thanks all.

Might as well keep this thread alive:

I have two more to add to your registry:

1st Gen 84 Master: TDD4517F

83 Freestyler: TNN2237F

Not sure if there are two registries now, but I sent this info to DOM yesterday as well.

Cheers,

Hi there just found this post today. I have a haro freestyler that I dragged out of my mom and dad's crawl space that has been sitting for 26 years indoors and undercover, exactly how I raced it. Still mint, I had no idea that they are so sought after.
I brought it back with me to California where I now live. It is serial # TJJ3573F and was purchased in the summer of 1984 at Russ Hays Cycle in Victoria BC Canada. It has all the cool period correct parts. I can post a pic if you'd like to see.

Hi Dave, I've just added your frame to the Harobmxcollector registry, I would love to see pictures of your bike and if you don't mind we will add them with your serial number. Each serial holds 7 pictures , so feel free to post as many up as possible or email them to bmx@harobmxcollector.com

On Chip's decals YOU have to notch them out yourself.
