Just picked this up today. Not much of it is still GT, like forks.
I'd like to get the date this one was made. The serial is DS60 703252. Serial is on the bottom bracket. Does that make it an '87?
Is the stem original?
Stickers say is all chromoly.
Thanks.

Cranks, sprocket and seat are the only items that belong on your 86 Performer. The stem looks like a Schwinn YO..Unfortunately forks are wrong also. Good start for a restore if you go that route.
Good Luck, Chris

Chris is right. The frame looks like an 86.
Cool score.

86. Japan made?
Stem looks like a knock-off forklifter. A YO! stem would be stamped YO! on the front.
Clean it up it's a cool ride.

I'll have to take a closer look at the stem and let y'all know. Offhand I don't recall that it has anything stamped on it.

A good way to make that frame shine...
Start with polishing compound and end with wax..you'll be amazed how nice and shiny that frame comes up. That is absolutely my favorite color...

Good Luck, Chris

The same color my Mach came in. Those poor Grafight 2000s, I just got a set of those NOS.

Did some work on this to get it going.
Added some GT bars and Pro Class rims w/ sealed hubs along w/ a Mongoose fork I had.
