'84? Looks like an '82 or '83. I'm sure that was just a typo, unless you restickered it w/ the earlier stickers.

Here's most of mine. I have a blue 86 Master not finished and my 90 bashguard Master is being cared for by djBob at the moment (see page 2).
The first one is an overall shot. You can see the blue 86 Master f/f and a 99 Master that is now Chris's (oldfreestyler).
This is the full 85 line-up. Ok, the FST is actually an 86, but close enough...except for the fork stands, it's the same as an 85 anyway.

The best Haro Freestyler, hands-down: Bob.
Yeah, Zefiro; I love Jimmy B's Sport, too.
Teamtotal had quite the lineup a while back:

I've been draggin on my '84 (2/3) Master for close to two years now. I've got all the parts amassed, but just need some chroming done. Would of just gotten it done but the loot just went to drop a 350 big block and stainless steel Flowmaster in my '85 El Camino.

That, and I'm sinking my BMX money into a new (meets old) daily rider. Someday the Master will be finished...

hi axlepeg.
did you mean small block or long block? their is no such thing as a 350 big block. not critisizing just curious. is it stock or modified? if modified what all did you do to it. excuse the interest but i drag race and build my cars my self as well as a truck or two every once in a while to use as a sleaper.

Thanks Vader. Your response made me go back and look. I did type "86". That is of course an 85, sorry. That's probably my favorite in terms of how it came out. The 87 Team Master is my all time fav bike though.

So... Has anyone got an original Bashguard SPORT? When they first came out I only saw Masters, but I seem to recall a pic of Ron Wilkerson on a Bashguard Sport, riding in what looked like a drainage channel (I think). There seemed to be tape or carboard on it, very much like when car manufacturers disguise new models on test drives.

Wanye, I have a black Sport frame with a bashguard. It's a little abused and has nothing on it at the moment, but I can put up a pic in the morning. (I'm at work now, don't tell anyone I'm on the internet)

Aug 18 2005, 02:32 AM
Donvader,
It it one of the original model Bashguard frames? I've seen the 2nd-Gen lurid green ones from time to time on eBay (not too bad a price, either), and at the moment I'm watching a Master-style bashguard model; I've not seen many of those, but I did remember seeing magazine ads for them.
As far as I knew, 1st-Gen Bashguard Haros only ever came in twin-toptube. I suspected the one I recalled was a special for Ron W. that never went into production.

Iriqois,
I'm watching something on eBay at the moment. Is this one? Item No. 7176712810
He's described it as a Sport, but it's got twin toptubes. And 990 lugs????

Aug 18 2005, 05:48 AM
Here's the two that I have. A chrome Master, one with the more rounder bashguard, and the Sport.
Here's a couple other Haro things I have. I actually used to fit in these pants, size 32. I don't think that'll ever happen again. LOL.

Donvader,
Yeah, that's the one. A real oddball, the lugs (unless it's had a repaint) look stock, and it looks like there's even two cableguides either side of the seatpost. The cable stop halfway down the toptubes is another oddity, but necessary for the setup.
It should all be underneath the toptubes to be of real use. This version hasn't got the screw-in pegmounts on the chainstays, so maybe it's a later model. It was a bad idea, the tubes got twisted.
By the way, the bashguard frame I'm going on & on about is a single toptube version of the uppermost one you've pictured.
I rode one of those original BG Masters for a short time in about 1989, courtesy of a friend. Quite a nice ride. A few years back, a pretty tired-looking one was being ridden in an embarrassed manner by a youngster in Rom Skatepark. He was over the Moon when I started admiring it, hope by now he's still got it & he's of a mind to restore it.

Donvader, you've got a '90 Sport and a '91 Airmaster there. That black sport lent it's bashguard to the Master in 91 and then there were 2 masters. Ground Master and Air Master. The ground master was classic Master but with no rear platforms, one inch shorter than the Air (or Bashguard) master. In the classic Hoffman Vids Headfirst and Ride On, he can be seen riding both the 91 Sport and the 91 Master.
I had an Airmaster until earlier this year when I sold it to a more deserving home.
