Photo by ???Ty getting some major air here...into a huge sandpile.
Photo by STRIKEScott got us into the aerobics room of a local racquet club. Ty's in the foreground with Scott in the background, wishing he could do flail boomerangs.
Photo by STRIKEThis shot has "poser" written all over it...but he actually pulled this backside walkover.
Photo by STRIKEHere he's stretching a cowboy to the limits, another trick that looks like it's not going to be pulled...but he actually landed this.
Photo by STRIKEFinally a shot of him actually posing.

Thanks Jeff! We were pretty decent for the time period, but college took it's toll on our riding. We all basically split up and didn't ride together much after 1989. We had some contests up around Minneapolis that we competed in, the series was called the Midwest Freestyle Series or "MFS". None of us from Southeastern Minnesota ever competed in any national contests (that I'm aware of), but a few riders from the MFS contests ended up being pretty well known. Krt Schmidt, Marty Schlessinger, Trevor Meyer and Tom Haugen immediately come to mind.

I don't think anyone will be offended by your Fred Blood comment, Fred had his moments...if anything, he was photogenic.
Thanks for the props on the pictures, I'm sure everyone who took them will be stoked to hear their skills are appreciated. I'll go back and put the photographer's name after each pic I've posted, that way you can get an idea who took what. If I don't know or don't remember who took the picture, I'll leave a question mark and maybe someone can tell me who took it.
Oh and BTW, I lied...I found ANOTHER FEDORA picture. That one will come in time.

Blue & grey Skyway Street Beat in all but the first picture. Can't find any pics of me on the green Skyway Street Styler.

Note my Converse All-Stars. I always wanted the Vision Street Wear that looked like All-Stars but had little bats all over them. I couldn't afford them, so I'd buy All-Stars at Woolworth's for $7 and draw bats all over them with a Sharpie.

"Look at how casually I can remove my hand as I perform this daring stunt!"

Once again I appear to be astonishing myself with the ease with which I am doing this trick. Or perhaps I am just amazed by the awful 80's cut of the jean jacket I am wearing. Nice lapels.

Sweet beret, dork.

Pay close attention to my amazing tight-rolled pants.

Close your mouth!

Who the hell says you can't wear a black turtleneck sweater with bleach-splattered jeans? I do what I want.

oh wow......makes me long for my skinny days again! I need to scan some of my pics and send em in! I have what was probably the entire Rochester contigent of riders(like 10-12) at that time lined up in front of my house before we went to that gravel/sand jump that TY was launching over a few posts back! The Freak squeek pic is KILLER man, I may have to make that my desktop! BTW, I know Im in the minority, but that top funky chx pic made me miss my TRICK STAR II!! I loved the way it handled for Flatland!
p.s. What was the deal with me sticking my toungue out? I think everybody should send in their pics of them where they are making goofy faces mid-trick...I seem to remeber that sAC used to puff out his cheeks like a blowfish everytime he would do a hopping or scuffing move!

I have no idea how structurally sound that frame design is, but it sure cool! From the big long gusset (with holes) between the top tubes to the perfectly horizontal nature of the top tubes. It reminds me of a quadangle, only in reverse.
theRuler
Jul 12 2005, 03:20 AM
it was kinda like a bike called a "trm" freestyle we used to get in the uk back then. they were uk made. that frame lasted 2 years, then it cracked where the seat tube pierced a ****y thin plate that was between the top tubes.
the best thing about it was the low top tube. i could rock no foot cancan endos all day.
