A Haro frame and fork like that is basically impossible to find, and if so, that will be over or close to a $1,000. easy.. you might as well abort mission.
STRIKE
Enough with the small talk, start posting old pictures.

I'll have you know that, that is my Vikings cap. My parents bought that for me when I was a way little tyke and I still have it to this day. Of course I was NEVER a football fan, but I have my Vikings cap lol.

I can't believe I was snow jumping my Osborn Pro, but I gotta tell ya, that bike was built for everything. Good stuff.
DitchWeed
I still like the gravel jump we had for that ONE summer behind Northbrook. John Haggard still talks about the time he rode out of that 360 there! I remember Tom and Denny were getting some MAJOR air too, the fear factor defintiely decreased when going snow/gravel jumping!!

Got any more pics of gravel jumping?
bmx-bandit
That picture of Tom throwing the dirt is sweet. I'm saving that baby for my own. That General bike. I can't believe I never owned one of those. Those were like the best bikes ever made!
DitchWeed
allrighty, heres a few old ones of me i dug up. The picture quality however is only a wee bit better than my last batch.

Anyway heres my first actual freestyle bike - a purp cyclepro freestyle...it was a Master ripoff with Z-rims that served me well until I bought a Trickstar from VBMX user Stagnant BITD.

But even earlier...here I am cathing air on my Huffy Pro Thunder

And again popping a wheelie...err, wait, I mean manualing! SIDE NOTE: If you look closely, you will notice the famed "concentration tongue" that I have yet to grow out of!

From there I moved on to one of my favorite bikes of all time my Schwinn Scrambler 36-36. This was my beloved paper route bike, and also the bike I learned my first tricks on - endos and framestands. Her I am doing that old school standby - the foot jammed in the wheel endo crossup!

DitchWeed
That bar ride is pretty stoke, I never got to ride with Stines BITD.....We all need to get together for a BBQ soon!!!!

Anybody got a wedge ramp we can transport?

STRIKE?
STRIKE
Nope sorry, no wedge. I wish I still had that launch ramp I used to haul around in the trunk of my car.
STRIKE
KOP that's some bad*** photography on that kickturn shot.

sac, i was looking through the may 87 bmx plus today, the one with the lesuer contest. look at the photo of the product toss. i am front and center and i think you are on the right -hands out going for the grab. all these years and i never knew i was in that shot. i'm kinda stoked on that.
mikkopeters
Rick- I was a mere 8 feet or so away from you in that pic... was that a rad contest or what?
rick kast
cool, i will bring that issue to the next bbq, we'll have to see who else is in it.
another funny thing i saw was the opening photo, i think, anyway you can see a bunch of busch beer cans on the rail of the announcers tower.
and yeah that was cool, i think everyone fell over on the rafter plant.
Railroad Ty
Strike,

I forgot about the dustpile... That was in the RPU building during construction. Nice wide open concrete floors, great riding in there.

You have any pics of us spinning dirt up on Matthew? I wonder where he is right now?

WOw, those are some great pics. It's always cool to see rare pics that weren't in the magazines. You need to keep posting some of those. Are you really Josh's brother though. THere was people talking about him on here awhile ago, wondering where he disappeared to> What is he up to these days? Can you post more of these awesome pics?
custom-cruiser
I will post the rest of the pics here....

Jim Johnson
ok.....I just looked through ALL these pics and LOVED every minute of it! SOMEHOW....last night....I did some searching on the internet...got bored..whatever....was searching around for anything about my freestyling days...and found MANY websites and message boards about this subject and was really excited.

My name is Jim Johnson. I used to ride for schwinn in 87-89...I rode in the "rollin the states in 88 tour" and I KNOW I know you guys...I feel like I've ridden with you guys at comps or at shows...or something....anyway, would love to be a part of your message board and share stories / re-live the past....and all that....anyone remember me?

:-)

crowdaddy
Yeah I saw you at a show in Concord, NC about 88 I think. Welcome
STRIKE
Hahaha sure we remember you! If you were in the magazines and you toured...we know who you are lol. I saw you in back in the late 80's at a show in a Minneapolis suburb, Penn Cycle was the bike shop.

Of course you probably don't know us (at least not the Rochester, MN crew), but looking back at the pics I'm sure it feels like you know us because freestyle is like that. Also, you probably DO know the user named "axlepeg" since he was hitting the flatland contest scene in the late 80's/early 90's.

If you want to relive memories, this is the place...feel free to browse the other threads, there's something for everyone!

You're a welcome addition Jim, if you have any pictures you want to post, feel free to do it here.
Jim Johnson
I remember PENN cycle!

I'll have to find this "axelpeg" and see....I have a BUNCH of pics and plan to start the scanning process this weekend....
STRIKE
Awesome, pics (especially shots pre-stardom) are a huge hit here on Vintage! Glad you found us Jim.
Jim Johnson
yeah I have some REAL vintage shots pre-during-and post stardom.....as a matter of fact I can go outside and whip up a funky chicken NOW and take a pic of it....LOL....
sandy crawford
Jim,
You may remember doing a show in Rome, GA in late summer of 1988. After the show, you, me, Mark Bell and Jamie Wright all rode together for a while. Its a shot in the dark because that was 18 years ago, but you may remember.
bmx-bandit
yeah, Jim, let's see some of your pics. All those old shots.. any pics of any famous contests and the tours? Can't wait to see them..
bmx-bandit
Jim Johnson
Sandy....yes I remember Rome GA definately...where did we go???? Did we have a ramp...and did we set it against a wall???? Did I bend my bars???? These are things that are coming back to me....
STRIKE
KOP, now THAT's an awesome picture!
C Bentley
Jim, I do remember meeting you when you Robert Peterson, and Chris Rothe did a show for a local bike shop in Dalton, GA and probably even have it on video. The local TV station also did an interview with Bert afterwards in which you kept walking through the background of the shot making goofy faces and such. Funny stuff! I've definitely got that on video somewhere if you'd like a copy.
Jim Johnson
I would LOVe to have that video C Bentley! want to e-mail me so we can get in contact? jimj90@yahoo.com
