For anyone who is within driving range of Birmingham, AL and is planning to go to Louisville over labor day weekend. Flights on Southwest are $29 each way right now. Wednesday through Sunday. I just booked roundtrip for less the $80 total after taxes and fees. And remember Bags are free on Southwest.

Flights from Chicago are $59 each way.

One side Bar, my Birmingham flights are Thursday departure and Sunday afternoon return, the Monday flights back are in the $100+ range, not the $29.

Here are the other Southwest Specials involving Louisville.
From Louisville
To Albany for as low as $157 one-way
To Baltimore for as low as $139 one-way
To Birmingham for as low as $29 one-way
To Chicago for as low as $59 one-way

To Houston for as low as $164 one-way
To Jackson for as low as $179 one-way
To Long Island for as low as $153 one-way
To Manchester for as low as $129 one-way
To Oakland for as low as $179 one-way
To Orlando for as low as $148 one-way
To Tampa Bay for as low as $129 one-way

i have never flown sw before and am looking for a flight for my husb to get to louisville from newark nj..there is absolutely nothing under 350 one way!! i know they just started flying out of our area but can you tell me is there a special search or anything else you enter to find the low rates? i checked continental first ( what we usually use) and its the same price leaving thurs or fri.. one way or round trip... last yr i used my points for him so it didnt cost much on continental( it was actually cheaper round trip vs one way which is insane)...am i doing something wrong?

i cant purchase his ticket till they set a time/day for the a pros to race (husb can only take off one day of that weekend) so i am still looking..any help is appreciated..

thanks

There is nothing direct out of Newark, i tried.
Im flying out of philly on Wednesday and coming back early Monday morning. Both direct flights.. an hour and 50 min both ways.
Round trip total i think was $269 with tax.

What day do you need him to fly to Louisville. I just looked on www.southwest.com for Newark to Louisville and it was $169 each way, for a total of $366 after taxes and fees roundtrip. That was leaving Friday and returning on Monday.

There is a specials button on Southwest.com, up in the upper left of the header. But if your airport does not have a special to where you are going it will not show up as a special.

Most of the time the specials are actually listed in the online regular booking. They just put it into the system as that lower price, no code required.

Here is a screen shot. This was the latest flight out on Friday, but also the shortest flight overall at 3:40, everything else was 5+ hours because of layovers.

Hope you find what you need and get him there.

yes thats what i was looking for exactly..where did you see that? i looked over the entire swest website and didnt see anything direct without switching planes a bunch of times and it was pricey..

thanks i will look again wink.gif

if i knew exactly what day the a pros were racing that would help tremendously as to what day i have to fly him out... i have heard sunday is the latest "possible" date but no one will commit in writing to the exact schedule.

When I open up www.southwest.com I just used the book a flight selection boxes on the front page. Picked one way and selected the airports and day of travel. The next screen gives you all of the flights, I check the "wanna get away" rates for that flight that you see in the picture I posted. And the next screen is the one you saw above in my post.
