i want to put one on my american bb bike.. problem is i know there is a american to euro bb, but should i get a 83 bb shell or the 68/73 i ask because the adapter will push out more so i wonder do i need the longer shell or the 68/73.. has anyone did this maybe you can help me thanks alot

Only the 68/73mm cranks will work. both of the euro conversion cups sets will work. ck out ebay item 380159313272 this is a recessed set I feel works best.
