I was wondering if Shimano DXR cranks will fit on an Atomlab 26" DJ frame. If so, what is the biggest size chainring that can be used?

I am pretty confident they will w/ a 32 t ring.

Thanks man! I'm currently racing a 2010 GHP Pro Cruiser but I rode a 26" hardtail last weekend and fell in love with it. I'm thinking about going to a 26er but I want to keep running my DXRs.

We had a Trailpimp 2 complete come through the shop here (special order), and the way it was set up there was no clearance for a larger front gear (28t, I believe). It looked like if you redid the spacing on the rear cog and cranks, you could go a little bigger, though.

It will be tight but I think you can make a 32T work. I think you will have to use at least 2 BB shell spacers on the drive side, and if you use a SS specific rear hub, you will have to space the cog as close to the spokes as possible. Saints might be a better option, and/or a 9 speed hub SS'ed.

i run bmx profiles with 30t X 14t single speed on my blackmarket MOB. there is about 2-3mm clearance between the teeth and the frame with the 30t. although it may be possible to go up to 32 it seems like if you space out your cranks more, you could run into chainline/alignment issues.

i don't have direct experience with the atomlab trailking, but they're definitely designed for a compact rear end setup. i would just guess that 32t is not a good idea. 26t or 28t probably better idea.

Looking at the Trailpimp2, you can also respace the rear cog.

Spindle probably won't be long enough to run the DXR's in the atomlab frame. You could trade the dxrs for some saints and some $$ quite easily I am betting.

And you can run a 35 on a blk mrkt with good chain alignment with saint cranks and a profile rear hub. smile.gif
