170 mm cranks powerlite powerbend bars and a bmx products stem.do i have
anything?theres a number on the rear drop out that is stamped in the frame it's 1028.

You have been around here for a while, did you do a search here? I would be very surprised if there is not a thread here somewhere on that frame.

I know there is a lot of good info in this thread and I hope Mike does not get mad at me for posting this link. If he doesn't like it he can delite it. smile.gif

Ken, are you saying you no longer own that artful piece of history?

I would sure love to have my Pedals Ready back.
BLACKEND SKY
how do i tell what kind of fork it is?
66alfa_gtv
Post photos if possible. It will be a lot easier for us to give you a hand.
Of course, by now you've probably received a billion PMs asking you if it's for sale. I'd be one of those billions if I knew my name was at the top of the list.
Killer find, to say the least.
BLACKEND SKY
i am looking for a pro cruiser with at least a 21" TT so i would entertain offers...i'll post photos of it and the fork. Thanks!

Very popular frame ONLY at the races in So Cal around 77'- 78'.
Pedals Ready GT was when GT was known as Gary Turner welding together the frames
and Rich Long was selling them out at Western Sports Arama BMX track
or out of his Anaheim Bicycle Center.

There was pretty big informative thread on Pedals Ready GT a while back....
JohnnyJohnson OMAS DirtSlinger
Took me long enough... 30 min..... You're welcome..... LOL!
The info starts getting good around the third page of the thread...

Before there was GT.....

From what I can remember about the Pedals Ready GT Ames Replica frame is that it had that extended seat mast like you see in Ken Pliska's picture. When CYC made their version the seat mast was lower. I am wondering where Tim's frame actually comes from. Below is a picture of Tim's bike.

Below is the Pedals Ready GT add.

Here is another add including my frame that never saw production.

are there anymore oics of tim's bike anywhere ?

Possibly, if you look hard enough. The sad thing about most of these websites is that if the person who posts a picture makes any changes to their photo-hosting link, then that picture will no longer show up in that post. That is why so many of the old threads no longer have the pictures that go with the story. To me that is sad because the pictures are what I enjoy about these places.

Now then, BLACKENED SKY, that is a treasure you have there. Being that I was very close to the inception of that frame and friends with the Ames family I really appreciate its roots. The fork you have there is a Cook Brothers. Everything else is typical quality parts you would find on a little kids bike from that time frame.

I am by no means an authority on the whole Pedals Ready GT/CYC/GT timeline, but I am very confused by all the stickers on yours. My memory is; Gary Turner built the smaller size frame for his son and the larger size for his little brother. My sponsor at the time owned a bike shop at his track (Western Sports Arama) called Pedals Ready Pro Shop. I do not remember if it was just Bill Hemrick or John Hill, (or both) but someone worked out a deal with Gary to build the frames and market them thru the shop. The partnership did not last long, Gary took his design back and eventually created GT.

I do know someone who might be able to shed a little more light on this. Adam Cox (JMC/ACE) rode for JMC in the early days before Jim built his own frame they rode the Pedals Ready GT frame. I might be seeing him next weekend and will ask him some questions.
BLACKEND SKY
that would be awesome red!!thanks for the info.would you know what these sold for new?
The Red Baron
Well after about an hour of searching my magazines and papers (I get lost in them every time I do research laugh.gif ) I found exactly what I was looking for. I just love it when a plan comes together.

All I have to say is "WOW!" Wanna sell it? LOL I have a crusier complete for trade or I will trade you my Sofa and Microwave. LOL Oh well it was worth a shot!
Ken Pliska
Dennis,

Frame is in an Australian collection now, forks are on a DG in Southern Cal and the rest of the parts are on a DG in Seattle. I was thinning the collection down at that point smile.gif

So Ken, you bought that bike complete from TIM and parted it out and sold it?
Just making sure I got it right?
The Red Baron
Come on JJ, get with the program. smile.gif

Go back and look thru this thread above. Ken 'had' his own Ames Replica. You missed where he wrote about his bike.

It's all good....

We sure had some great riders on our team at that time. The little kids had some mad skills at that time. This was at the NBA Weinert Mountain Nationals at Escape Country in 77. (possibly the raddest track ever made for a one day race)

Here is what our jerseys looked like from the front.

BMX barn find of the century right there. Would you mind posting more pics of just the frame? Also like to know if it has a serial number and if so where it's located. It's good to have a nice look at the PRGT decals. I pestered Dennis (Red Baron) a while back about whether those were clear back or die cut..

Jason,

Most of the decals back then were "clear back" or silk screen on mylar or silk screen on prism. Wasn't till later that rub ons were the standard.

Dennis,
Are you coming to Rick's ride in SD???
seda
Just awesome. Thanks for posting the pics.

Adam, I should have known to ask you about the decals.

[Edit: Should have mentioned that the Red Baron told me the same thing about the decals a couple years ago!]
