I can see where people who grew up riding these bikes could have a soft spot for them and I honestly mean them no disrespect. Was that politically correct enough?

I have a soft spot for the really weird and completely assinine frames with goofy standers and the kitchen sink on them, so I know what it's like.
The problem I have with the DB Hot Streak ('85/'86) and the Freeform EX (yo) is that they seem like they were designed by guys in suits trying to create a "freestyle" bike while still adhering to the CPSC rules. Sure they did it but honestly, a race bike with bolt on standers would have been a much better option. In other words, they were out to make a buck off the new trend. Ok, I've said way more than I planned to lol.
I agree, the Strike Zone was an amazing F&F, I seriously considered getting one before deciding on the Osborn Pro.
That is funny because when I see one of the "kitchen sink bikes" that you admit to liking I have the opposite reaction. I dont equate them with hardcore true rider designs, I think of a bike that obviously the suits where designing.
At a board meeting in some corporate skyscraper in the 80s "The kids are into places to stand so lets place this big luggage rack thingey on the back and may loop some tubing up over the fork...and oh yeah add a space to hold a big gulp on the handlebars and we can do a promotional tie in with 7-eleven!"
I see the back standers on the DB being no less useful than the back standers on the Haro Master that we all agree where the pinnacle of freestyle design for their time. In fact they are less out of the way. (Please if you have any doubts regarding my Haro alligence look to the left at my avatar pic and read my sig. I am a Haro guy through and through. I am not slagging the Master... I love it!) While I am not sure about the front standers on the forks I would by no means say that the DB is any more gimmicky than any other "freestyle" bike of that time frame and I would go on to say it was significantly more efficient and practical a design than some.
