Anyone notice this knockoff? biggrin.gif

Interesting looking mongoose...

Oh man, the welds on that are terrible!!!
The Red Baron
Like race inc said above, those welds are just plain awful!!!

...but, if I were a Mongoose collector and I could pick that "thing" up cheap, I would own it as something along the lines of "this is a real bike (Mongoose), and this is a mongoose on drugs."

Absolutely!!!

Sent the seller a question
QUOTE
Thats not a Mongoose for several reasons 1) The welds are nasty 2) It has a round brake bridge, 3) The drop outs are too small, 4) Mongoose frames didn't have built in provisions for kick stand mounting, 5) The down tube doesn't terminate in the center of the crank hanger tube and 6) The head tube gusset is mis-shaped. It's a cheap Mongoose knock off. The current bid of $4.25 is too much for it. With all due respect you should correct your listing

It will be interesting to see if they reply and how they reply

laugh.gif Not another one!!! laugh.gif Damn that is one fugly POS! That down tube and where it hits the crank hanger, those bird poop welds and the horrible shape of the drop outs... Could whoever have made this frame really thought they were even getting close?

Right now it's been bid up to $4.00 and change... Seems about right, maybe a tad high though.

I wonder if the seller just has no clue or should he actually be flagged for selling a fake?

Oh well, to Ebay, it's probably just an old bike frame and not worth the hassle of investigating. They seems to let this kind of stuff go all the time, not to mention allowing stolen frames with filed off serial numbers to be sold publicly. Don't even get me started on that... Seems like stolen bike frames are the one exception to the laws concerning the sale of stolen goods.

Nattika.....I have a 76 mongoose look alike in my garage right now, my heart was in my throat as I scampered across the goodwill thinking I was about to SCOOOOOORRRRREEEE, major let down when I saw the nattika stickers......still it had some decent parts on it
MattyBinyon
That's not a Niitaka. They didn't have pre-'81 mongoose style drop outs or the looped seat & chain stays. Interesting.

I noticed the chrome first and that made look closer to see if it was a team frame. That's when i realized....

I wonder if some of those "scrapes" are from deleted chainguard tabs.

Hopefully the seller will correct.

I thought about that too Red Baron. Does anyone have a collection of mongoose knockoffs? There's probably at least 4 or so, right? This is the first one I remember with the downtube hitting the bb so low. Also, the top tube vent hole in the seat tube isn't mongooseesque.

I bet he's wondering why so many views and watchers all of a sudden....almost 500 views. laugh.gif

good3.gif Gotta give him credit for changing the description...someone told him it's a Niitaka. Not sure if it will let him change the title since it has a bid.
