Hi please help!!! I am building a Hutch ProRacer and have just got some titanium spindled hutch hubs attached to Pro class rims. the rims are a bit of a mess but the hubs will clean up well. However, the spindles threads are not great and I was wondering can they be rethreaded? They are not too bad but don't accept nuts easily. Also I need a new collar as one broke and i also need a new sealed bearing for one hub. I therefore possibly need new spindles too, depending on if they can be rethreaded. Also I need 2 pairs of nuts and some washers for this build.

Where can I go for these?

Also, can the rims be rechromed or any way to clean them up. They just look a bit oxidised from time. Are the spindles 24 tpi, I really don't know? Also is it worth rechroming the hubs and getting new decals. They could clean up well just from a good polish. What is the best way to polish too?

Sorry for all the questions but I'd like to do a good job.

Would love any replies on my other email or here: tonycoutts@hotmail.com

I'm no expert but you may try "chasing" the threads with the appropriate die and see if that cleans them up enough to be usable. As far as bearings...they are usually avilable. You should be able to find sealed bearings locally to match the dimensions of the originals. I think the Japan made bearings are of better quality and what was used in a lot of the early high end sealed hubs.
