VDC's bikes never made the pages of Freestylin' bitd. Never saw or heard of one in the 80's. Saw my first one at the Rockford show last year. I don't know why you other vintage bmxers like them, but I think VDCs of any kind SUCK!
Now there's a VDC prototype on ebay, made 2009 - and it sucks too! Check it out!

I don't know what your deal is, man. Sometimes I think you can't possibly be serious, and sometimes I think you just don't know any better. Here's my suggestion. If you don't like it, don't buy it. To each their own.

http://cgi.ebay.com/VDC-BMX-Prototype_W0QQ...d#ht_500wt_1049You seem to get a little chubby for old school Hutchs and the like. Maybe Voris Dixon could have gotten a little more press and paid for some more advertising if Hutch would have stayed on top of paying their bills. You see, a lot of stuff you seem to worship was being manufactured by VDC. There's a good chance you have some of Dixon's handiwork in your $34,000 bike collection. I guess if he made cycling computers for BMX bikes, you'd give him a little more respect. By the way, congratulations on your award.

Yeah this guy isn't hittin on all cylinders, that's for sure. It's one thing to have an opinion about certain brands or whatever. But this guy puts up a random post, bashing VDC and then questions why other members on here like them? WTF? Why does it matter?! Dude, why don't you just go back to bunnyhopping, speedometers and riding your bikes with no seats!

http://cgi.ebay.com/VDC-BMX-Prototype_W0QQ...d#ht_500wt_1049This, coming from someone who's only criteria for a
good bike seems to be light weight and good bunnyhop geometry. Again, I say that this guy is trolling us; but, at the very least, I have to thank him for getting another VDC thread rolling!
The oddity freestylers, the VDC, Profile, Free Agent, Vector, SE quad etc... these frame/fork combos wont go down in history because they were practical (most weren't), they'll go down in history because
they are works of art.
My two cents.

Obviously the VDC does not have good bunny hopping geometry and weighs too much!

It's all you guys that diss me that are the problem. Everybody has a right to their opinions, and my opinion is VDC's suck... So I'm just also saying why I can't understand why people like VDC's. If you guys don't like my opinion, then you don't belong in AMERICA - land of the Free!
You gotta respect others freedom of speech. And I don't think Mike Buff is great either.

I think you've got it wrong
professor geography, this is the internet not America. If we don't like your opinion, we'll tell you why we think you're wrong and you'll just have to take it.
People like VDC's because they were well built, look interesting and are fairly rare. The real question is why don't you like VDC's? This thread was really just created to start arguments.
Mike Buff was one of the first freestylers, he was featured prominently in BMXAction, performed in the first offical freestyle tour, made an impression on we the impressionable youth, jumped off buildings before anyone jumped off buildings, rode ramps as well as flatland and seemed pretty cool. That's why I think Mike Buff was great. But that's not the subject of this thread, VDC's are.

"If you guys don't like my opinion, then you don't belong in AMERICA"
First of all, liking your opinion has nothing to do with being an American. We have to accept your opinion, not like it. And if we decide to give an opinion of our own, so be it. Voris Dixon did more to promote BMX than most other people combined. He wasn't worried about cashing in. He made products for a host of other companies. He thought outside the box and made high quality products whether or not you find them aesthetically pleasing. And believe me when I say that just because you don't like the look of them doesn't mean they suck. You can just say you're not into them and that will be that, But to come out and something sucks that you know nothing about is just inflammatory. Not to mention the fact I've seen someone bunnyhop over a picnic table on a Changa. How ya like 'em now?

Ok retro you know you and I have had some fun discussion before but I here is where I lay my cards out...
There is a difference between having an opinion and being a [that which cleanses internals]. The reason why people dont seem to respect or accept your opinion is because you fail to back it with any facts. You make arbitrary statements like "This sucks!" and then leave it at that.
Oh yeah and while we are at it....BUFF IS THE MAN!!!!

Freedom of speech is not a one way street. If you're going to walk down the middle of this eight lane highway and insult Voris and Buff, you'd better be ready to dodge the traffic.
Secondly, you do not have to LIKE something in order to RESPECT it. I respect your opinion, but I don't like it. That is an American value. Go move to Iran and dis Achmadinejad like you did Mike Buff, we'll see how long you last.
Peace.

I have an old BMX Action Freestylin book with R.L. and Buff that is just sick. These pics and the stuff Buff is doing is just rad.. One of the poineers. But we all know that.. I'm on stock boards alot and deal with bashers. So, to get a guy that dosen't know much is the norm....

I heard that Buff rode a VDC that bunnyhopped so high, he installed an altimeter on it. I'll see if I can find a pic.
