As I was sitting on a bench paying my respects to the Stevie Ray Vaughn memorial Sunday, somebody rode right in front of me on a Profile cruiser....I was having a "moment" at the moment and he went right by. Within a minute I figured I should have yelled something but he was long gone.
Figuring it was someone here. You there?
Sorry we were unable to meet up with Philip or anyone else while in town, it was a rather quick pass through on our cross country/route 66 trip. Monday is one week on the road, in Abilene tonight, headed to Amarillo and back on 66 west tomorrow morning.

I dont know who it was but I've heard Austin is like the Mecca of old school cruisers down there.
Welcome to Texas!

Could have been anybody. Most people in Austin who own "vintage " bikes don't think of them as such. Just the same bike they've had since they bought it in the 80's.
Austin is somewhat a BMX mecca. The bikes have always been popular here. On the street as well as the dirt.

was that you?!
I wish on three counts:
1) I wish I had the Profile cruiser
2) Wish I had got up early enough to enjoy the morning
3) It would have been a great opportunity to show you a little more of our city

Yeah with the "free spirited " attitude that the city has vintage cruisers are quite a common sight , not to mention that the numerous places to ride such as the infamous 9th st. trails makes it quite the mecca for many a BMX'ers . twice a year when I go the the Austin record convention (Spring & Fall ) I always make an effort to visit the trails . When visiting the record stores will ALWAYS see someone on a vintage cruiser (most always some twentysomething looking girl ridin' em )
