There's not a chance in Hades that I can go to Rockford this year, but I had to give big ol' props to Ms. Windy O for taking part in the festivities, that is too cool. The raddest non-rider BMX babe and #1 documentarian of the golden age of BMX and Freestyle! Who didn't have even a little crush on Windy back then?

Even on Joe Kid, she is still an adorable woman.

I don't remember seeing too many pics of her BITD -- I don't think they ran too many of her in Freestylin' in 86 and subsequent years, but of course I can be entirely wrong. I knew the name, of course, and I remember thinking, "Why don't they ever have any photos of her so I know who they're talking about?" So I'm not sure I was ever one of those guys who had a crush on her, but the name Windy -- the girl behind the camera -- was definitely intriguing. I will say the photo of her behind the camera in the banner above, she seems quite fetching to this day -- but the intrigue is still there, because you can't see her whole face!

I recall that pics of just Windy were rarer than an Air Uni U2, which I kinda understand not calling too much attention to her since the BMXA/Freestylin' readership's average age was something like 15. But she could often be seen in pics off to the side doing her photography thing in photos taken by others. We always used to point her out in
Freestylin' every time and say "Oh there's Windy" very matter-of-fact, like it was Where's Waldo or something.

One thing about the photogs, also, is that they are always BEHIND the camers, so it is rare to have someone take a photo of them. Of all the shots I have taken over the years, I think there are only a handful of me.

Take my word for it. She was and still is Beautiful. I always cherished the shots of her in BMX Action. I am glad to see all of the Old School BMXers coming full circle.

That's true. I think the only time I remember seeing you was in one of the old Plus! vids. I think you were at Pipeline, or maybe that one at the mini golf course?
