This is my first try at a Freestyle bike so bare with me. I will be getting rid of the Gyro and adding a layback seat post in the near future but here it is so-far. Has any one seen another with out the rear frame standers. and no they were not cut of but OG with out them???????

Nice build! The only thing missing are the forks. Why are you getting rid of the gyro?

(I originally wrote something about the frame standers -- didn't read your comment above!)

the frame was sold to the OG owner without forks from the bike shop I have the OG sales slip and warrenty card. so this could have been pree TS/Judge style fork not sure. the first ones were said to have Pro Racer forks with regular Hutch decals, I have seen pics of them. but not much info on mine. some day I will figure this one out.

Sorry I forgot to answer the Gyro question. the Gyro came out in 86 I was going to go with a rotor but they came out in 85. pluss being more of a race guy I like the straight cable better.

Wow, that's a nice looking early Trick Star. That one will be better without the gyro too once it's off. good3.gif

I wish they were , they are Red Line forks.

That is an awesome machine.

Yes. A member here, Fossil (John D.) has one that also came from the factory without rear stands or pegs on the forks. Woody has confirmed that a very few of the earliest Trick Stars came from the factory like that. A rare gem indeed! Treasure it.

Only thing I'd do is drop the Gyro for a straight cable and get some era-correct pedals (unless those are old Crupi's or something I don't recognize). BTW, I love the straight post. Makes it look tight instead of like a race bike.

oh man, what a machine. I love the look of these bikes theyre just seem so clean, but still scream freestyle

The pedals are SR speed traps with early Crupi cages I would have to guess mid 80's . I have Hutch pedals but with race cages. I am not out to spend much on this bike I found it complete and only had to buy tires I had the rest of the stuff kicking around. I will post pics as found later tonite. thanks for the kind words guy's.

This is the way the bike looked the day I picked it up.

Very nice to see it together Ray. Actually Hutch racing cages would be correct for an early TS. Trust me, that's what I ran in the early days and my shins love me til this day for that-LOL. The early Hutch FS forks look just like the pro forks with thicker dropouts. I'm pretty sure they just welded two of them together in the early days. If I'm not mistaken those pretty much became the infamous judge forks later after we added pegs to them to make them FS forks. I remember Tim sitting on my bike at one of the shows and really liking the geometry of the Trick Star. I think the judge is kind of like a trick star without all the platforms and fancy front gusset.

Woody

thanks for hooking me up with the tires. I owe ya one.

Awesome bike right there, Ray--nicely put together as well. Is it a 044XXX serial #? Yeah the Hutch race pedals would look just right on there. Just get some Hutch race forks and loose the gyro as you mentioned and you're good to go. I like the straight post too!

Mike

the serial# is 044XXX. I will put the Hutch pedals on and if I find some early TS forks with out the pegs I will swap them out . and Gyro is going for sure they never seem to work very well.

Thanks Ray

Wow. Definately one of the nicest bikes I've seen in awhile!!! It's cool to see some rare stuff pop up from time to time. I can't believe the condition before u cleaned it up! Didn't take much work at all to get it looking showroom! Very nice.
fossil
Sweet! Nice Hutch. I'm kinda geeked because that's the first TS I've seen without rear framestanders other than mine. Original. To note the differances, mine has no rear standers or coaster tab, 064xxxx serial number, came with a pro racer fork.

I agree with Woody. The Judge, geometry wise, feels just like a Trick Star. It may be identical.

Would be nice to talk to the people who originally welded these up.
Jeff S
Woody, funny you mention Tim Judge liking the Trickstar geometry. I was going through some old dvds and found footage of a show you and he did where he was doing tricks on a Trickstar.

Sweet looking bike by the way!
