We went to the trails on Sunday around 12:30 with the intention of hitting some of the smaller stuff. It was BIG! There were some really great riders there throwing some serious tricks. we left for a while and went to kona and then came back for the contest. This was a legit contest! 5 riders, real talent, real money!

It was cool to see so many people supporting this event. There was probably close to 60 people out there standing around or sitting in lawn chairs cheering for the riders. People brought out grills and were BBQ'ng. Grandparents, Parents, kids all having a good time. It was the 1st warm day here in Fl in a while so there were pretty girls too!

I posted some pics on my Vitalbmx profile. Im not a professional photog so take it easy on me! I just snapped a few while we were there

Nate,

we skipped out on Oldsmar because of Kyla's news interview. We are Headed to Okeeheelee for the state qual this weekend though. Not gonna do either of the FL Nats. but we are going to Morristown.

You can def stay at our place when you pass through. We'll hit the local parks and the trails if you feel brave!

Here is a video of the BP trails and some footy from the 1st Trail jam.

The City of Jacksoville recently came in to bulldoze the trails down and when they got there and saw how great it was they now want to help. we need to get a business lic and some other stuff to make the place legit. If anyone knows anything about this get with me so we can save the trails. I will post some more info when I find out exactly what the city wants.

dam... are you serious? dude. keep me posted. sounds like maybe charging and such. If they start bringing up liability, it would pay to get a lawyer to start looking into the laws that allow them to build a skatepark in FL that everybody can ride. They can't insure all those random public riders, so I am pretty sure they are under the same "extreme sports law" that every state is... basically that if you are engaged in any sort of Action/extreme sports and get hurt while doing it, you can't sue anybody due to the inherrant injury risk of said sport.
might be worth a shot. Those trails are sure worth saving.
how did they even know about them??

They worked something out with the city. Michelle (BMXMOM730) fromt The Jax BMX track helped them with a few things. It seems that the same pot of money the City budgets for Mtn bikes trails, the bmx track, and other bicycle related stuff can be tapped to use for the BP trails. Since the trails are technically in a city park it is thier deal too. They saw all the kids out there using it and were impressed. Ralph has a few things to work out but it looks like the city of Jax is onboard with the trails and are not gonna plow em. Cool huh?

Now all they gotta do is keep the beer cans and trash to a minumum. They do a pretty good job out there though so it shouldn't be a problem.
