Hey all,

Might be a bit of a dumb question, but bear with me because I'm still new to all this...

I've got an early 90's Diamond Back with a 16 tooth freewheel. I recently bought a set of Skyway Tuff II's with a Suntour coaster brake (this also has a 16-tooth sprocket), but the chain won't fit the set-up on the Tuff's. Does anyone know why this is?? I was planning on getting a new chain anyway, but obviously I want to make sure it will fit first. Any help would be great.

Cheers

Chains come in different sizes. You need to find out what chain you have first.

Yes, I had a chain that came off a Diamondback Viper from the early 90's (tiny) and I put it on my Performer (huge frame). That was the tightest sprocket I'd ever had to deal with. Bottom line is the chain is porbably tiny, so get a bigger chain

You probably have a 3/32 wide chain and the tuff wheel with coaster needs a 4/32 wide (1/8") chain.

Thanks for that, I'll go have a look at what size the chain is and go up from there.
