What was the hot lever to have in 90 to 94? Was the tec77 the lever to have?

I was really out of the sport by 91, so alot of the more exotic companies I didn't get to see in action. I would think that this is when Mtn bike parts started crossing over.

So what do you got. Post some pics if possible.

Here is a pic of a Pitbull II lever...

...on my '94 Robinson XL Team model I might add.

I like the ability to remove the lever without taking off the grips as it's hinged.

Pitbull I's are nice but not hinged.

MX 99's or MX 88's are eqaully as comfy.

The man to ask that would be kcmobmx !

He knows his mid-school inside out.

I'm just getting into the mid school as the parts seem to be more readily available and priced more affordable.

As well there are many highend unique mid school brands out there.

The mid-school stuff is under rated and often overlooked by the os crowd...

...but as the years peel by they will beocme the more desired and sought after stuff.

ACS springloaded...ultra clean. Don't know the model # but, they were CLEEEAN.
I have a few I am pulling out of retirement....

I was a big follower of Mtb stuff at this point to try and get more technology.

Mx 99 was not out yet.

The big ones were Tech 77's and Pitbulls mostly. Some Acs and older Dia Compe especially on the little guys bikes.

The crossovers. Dia Compe Xc Short Stops (Todd Corbet ran these and I also did when I rode for Kastan), Dia Compe SS-5 I think this was early 92 (I ran these and have them on one of my builds) these were pricey also and very light, the super exotic was the Grafton levers which were the lightest in the world at the time and ran about $150 a pair and still oftwen fetch over a hundred on ebay.

Pb1??? is this the Pitbull 1? If so late 90 early 91 sounds about right.

Yep that what I ment by Pb1. I'll try to do some research on the Xc's, SS-5, and the Graftons.

Thanks for the info, and if you get a minute can you post a pic of the SS-5's.

Could the XC ba a suntour lever? I found some short stop 7 levers and the grafton levers, but the only Xc lever I could find was a suntour.

Any left that aren't in use?

Gravity Research, Paul's, Caramba, BOX and the rest of the 90's CNC boom are still favorites of mine. I do have to say, the fit and finish on the Altec's were second to none.

Tech77's were my fave and still are.

Thanks for reminder, I have a set at home

Dc SS-5

These come with the lever covers. SS-7's do not.

Dc Xc Short Stops.

Sorry this is the best pis I have right now. I have a black lever cover on mine which I always ran.

Ant glad I could jog your memory,

Stephen

Nice. I did see some SS 7. Longer arms.
Kastanman
What about these? They appear to be a tech 6 with holes drilled in it.

Dia Compe Advantage 5 SL is how they were listed in the auction.

Would these be earlier than the short stops?

Nbl 49a
I am not sure if they are before Short Stops but they very well could be. I have never seen them before. The SS-5's have the the holes drilled in the blades just like that and have the same type of sticker up on the top. They very well could be the pre-cursor to the SS-5's or could be slightly lower on the food chain and similiar time. Hard to say but they look cool.

Got the levers today. they are the same size and shape as a tech 6, minus the lever stop screw. Their are 8 extra holes drilled in the body, and two in the lever. you can even see the reminants of a 283 stamp between the two holes on the lever.

Correction: They were Dia Compe X1 short stops and not XC short stops.
