Full Version: why eBay kinda sucks

Mr. Smith
Good morning. I bought a vbmx bike off of ebay.

Ebay with in the last 6 months implemented a "buyer protection" feature which makes the seller unable to access the funds till I reiceve the item and amrk it as such.

This is good and bad. What if the seller needs the funds to ship the item ?

After contacting paypal customer service I was even more p'ed off when the middle eastern rep I spoke to was extremely hard to understand and difficult to work with.

If you or anyone is in this country it is YOUR job to learn the language and speak it fluently PERIOD !

So on one hand they (eBay) are protecting me but if the seller needs that loot to ship the item I now wait longer.

WTF ! Another reason why big business will never have the customer skills of small business.

GL to all.

And what is it that makes you think that the customer service line is in the U.S.?

Also, you can always ask to speak to someone higher on the foodchain like a team lead, manager, or supervisor.

Although I agree with you about the learning to speak english thing but is there a time limit where he/she has to learn how to speak english fluently? Or are they not aloud to be employed until they lose the heavy accent and be forced to leach off of our government and utilize our tax money to survive?

I totally understand the frustration but in the day of internet and world wide marketing and sales, I would prefer to use email for my correspondance. It not only cuts out the hassle of having to wade through the thick accents of other people, it also is a document that you can present in court unlike a conversation.

Just another perspective.

As for the whole shipping thing, well that is something the seller should have thought about. It wasn't a surprise when he decided to sell it on E-Bay. He has to agree to certain Terms & Conditions.

Well enough of the devil's advocate thing.I hope you get your bike soon!!!

I agree with you about the releasing of funds to the seller with the buyer protection. E-bay PayPal or whomever should at the very least release the shipping. It seems to me E-bay is going more and more towards making sellers behave as if they are a small business with a supply of capital behind them. I had a similar experience last year with E-bay as a seller and consequently will avoid using E-bay to sell anything. There are other places to sell items on the internet without the hassles.

agreed, if your in any type of customer service, especially in a big business like ebay, you have to speak fluent english, only problem is that isn't how "these" comanies operate anymore

chances are the calls are transfered overseas and the people answering phones ARE TOLD to have "work" names such as bob, dick and harry so "we" think we're talking to US citizens here

i don't know what to think about the situation your in though, with all the people i know that have been burned by evilbay i kind of like the setup you described them now having personally

hope it comes soon, what did you get?
