Just got a set of the Dur ace 7700 road cranks & Im going to use them on my cruiser . So I need a strong bb and the right size . Any help would be appreciated .I have seen there a cromoly Ocktalink shimano bb . Do you think these would be ok for bmx .

My opinion the DA is too light. But your just in luck . . . kinda . . . because XTR used the same V1 spline, but it looks like it was discontinued with the 112.5, so you might have to ebay that. Then that leaves the Shimano 105. Steel cups, and not the aluminum cups of the DA and XTR, and a little beefier for an extra 80g. I've used 105 Octalink on some of my "Projects" and I've found them to take a lot of abuse. However the races are soft and you'll wear it out after a season of riding, It won't break, it will just become loose.

Thanks for the info so quick . I like a wide spindle so the Xtr 116mm sounds perfect .I have found 130 43t chainwheels by Origin 8 & Ta thats about it but just started looking .The Origin 8 looks just like tuffneck chainwheel from bitd .

Been riding the 7700 DA- 952 XTR set up for a couple months with no problems what so ever. Just bumped it up a gear to keep up with the faster drivetrain. Taking 300 grams off the bottom of the bike has forced an adjustment in ring style.

Got some Dura ace 7701's for the 20 inch . Should have it together next week.
