How can I fit a 1" threadless fork into a frame intended to use 1 1/8" threadless? Is it possible thanks.

Just to make sure I`m reading right, you`re looking to put a 1" threadless fork into 1 1/8" threadless frame, right? If that`s the case a company named Problem Solvers makes a reducer for the headtube so you can just install a 1" headset into the frame.

there is also a Crupi headset made for just this purpose. it's pricey, though.

Thanks for the help guys I found the reducer for 24$ not bad.

You can put 1 1/8 threadless in a 1" headtube frame. You'll need a cheap dia compe 1 1/8 headset, actually, just the fork race, and upper race/dust cover and wedge. Use the regular 1" cups in the frame, and instead of using the bearings in the cages, just pack the headset cups full of grease, and get a bunch of loose ball bearings from a hardware store and put them in. Assemble and ride.

you can use these parts from a dia-compe "tank" looseball headset, also.

I did this on my 88 RL20B. U have to use the cups from a tioga headset like an MX2 or Beartrap II to make it work

The Best way is to machine 1-1/8 cups to fit the 1 inch headtube, I plan on doing this with this bike

It is proven to work, as seen on this nomura
