Jeff Tremaine (ex GO Magazine Art Director & Director of JACKASS) is doing a special documentary on Mat Hoffman for ESPN. I am helping with locating rare footage of Mat, and the 1986 AFA Madison Square Garden contest was Mat's "breakout" contest, where he got noticed & sponsored by Skyway soon after.
I know that there was a video of the comp produced by Hirschberg Productions out of NJ, but I'm looking for any home video or photos that might exist of Mat from that comp.
Thanks!

The General Fred Blood instructional video from 86ish had two of his airs in it. A high table (I think) and the can can lookback that made the Freestylin' spread in the contest article. I don't still have it (thanks neighborhood kid for losing it) but I'm sure somebody does.
There's also that nasty crash Todd Anderson had on it, too. Pretty cool old footage if you FF through Blood's "tips".
Hope that helps!

I think this is what you're looking for. I remember watching Matt debut in the Magazines. His Indian Airs were amazing. It seemed once airborne, this kid was a natural at "flying-away" from his bike for insane hang-times, landing the pedals seemingly at the same moment he landed the ramp. Good luck with the production.
