Scored this yesterday. This makes first gen Mack #3. I'm building this one up the way I had mine set up BITD-more like a trails/street bike.
Frame is in surprisingly good shape. No dents or scrapes. Chrome shines for days.
Already cleaned her up and put some repro stickers on. Going out to the garage to start building now.

Am I done puting the bike together or am I done filling my garage with bicycles?

No and No.

Well done Steve, that one looks in great shape. Did you get the forks too?

(BTW I just checked the newer of my gen 1 Macks, the serial is only six away from yours)

Steve,
Do any of yours have a seat stay brace welded on? For the life of me I can't remember who I sold my Mack to, but I had a brace welded on to run regular brakes (Pitbulls), rather than 990's. Just curious as to where my old frame ended up.

Killer whip, Steve....the drop-outs look CLEAN...esp for a "freestyle" bike of its age....dang!
Keep us posted, bro!

what a beauty! can't wait to see becomes of this frame. i def want to build up some homeless frames someday...i even like the later ones...gotta get a couple of my S&M's that are in process done first before taking on any more projects.
one of my old riding buddies used to have an early Mack back in '89 when i was on the old BashMaster. I missed out on getting it last year when it popped-up for sale because i hesitated on it and i regret it bad. Someone i know locally snapped up the whole bike for $150 them parted it out on ebay and made a killing...had full wrap flights on it and all. It also had the homeless 1" forks on it from the first run in black because they didnt get them chromed in time. dang it was almost all original like he built it except for an early 90's padded GT dropnose seat. bad regrets, lol.
we had a little gang of three of us in my hometown BITD transitioning from preppy-boy freestyle to "dirty punk street" type riding around town back in '89/'90. i had the bashmaster , jason had the mack, and lance had a MadDog...boy the evil we did...i remeber slap bashing the fiberglass on a nice corvette, amongst several other rampages of public property damage with our bikes...i also ran my bashmaster brakeless the whole summer of '90...wanted to buy beer instead of cables ...i wonder if i was the first to do that? most ppl. who could afford a top bike like that back then had money for cables...not me, my poorness had to work for 6 months at age 15 to get a shot at a decent ride...prolly why i got the bike i did instead of building a ride...kinda easier to just do a top line box bike and get riding for me back then...but everyone still loved the evil u could dish with that bashguard. everyone always had to have a turn on it lol...the freecoaster rear hub was quite a novel thing then too..

wow, sorry for going off on a story here, but seeing this frame really invoked it. i want to say it's a good thing tho...kinda the point why we resurrect old bmx bikes huh?

The local person Ebayed the flights and gave the frame and fork to Dave the welder at FBM. Dave built that very frame back when here built for Homeless.

Big Dave made me a custom homeless necklace back in the day. Lost it at 9th street one day. Someone found it and gave it to Tina. Very cool. To bad I lost it again. Nice build Steve.
