Imagine if it was Blyther that busted Grasso...

I imagine you need to log into facebook to be able to access this page....

Here's the text:

I am RAISING FUNDS in a HURRY for legal council for a serious charge (INNOCENT) that I am facing. If you want my new limited edition t-shirt OR WANT TO HELP without buying a t-shirt and want to make a small donation email ghettogloss@ghettogloss.com
This is the gallery in Los Angeles that represents my artwork.
If you want to help them spread the word to any BMX peeps (or anyone that you can think of) that might be sympathetic to my cause, you can contact them directly by emailing ghettogloss@ghettogloss.com.
Please type GRASSO in the subject line.
Thank you in advance for your support. I really need it right now.
Pauly
So we just take his word that he's innocent of some mysterious "serious charge"?
I think I'll put my money toward my kids' Christmas gifts.
Axlepeg
Does it have anything to do with public nudity, I wonder...

Where does it say that this about the legendary freestyle rider Craig Grasso and not just some other guy called "grasso" who wants to promote his "art" work? I am very sceptical about these type of things until more proof, especially anything related to facebook groups.
2FRESH
I'm raising money to get me more room for my BMX bikes because i'm facing charges from the missus who thinks i have more stuff than one man should legally own. PM me for Paypal addy and donation info. It's for a good cause. Please help.
mikkopeters
It's Grasso.

I would imagine he is innocent until he's proven guilty.
2FRESH
Grasso is cool, collecting funds for cancer, children, poor, animals etc. is cool but collecting money thru facebook on such vaigue grounds is silly. But, can't blame him for trying though. Anyone can make up a group and a cause and find people who fall for it.

What is the story behind this? What is it Craig is alleged to have done?

Please post this info so we can keep this thread going. Definitely need more info.

Best,

Excellent point, Pauly.
Since I have no kids, I'd rather give some cash to the Oktoberfest girls. sarcastic_blum.gif

Unless it's someone I know personally, like family or close friends, I'm not putting money up for anyone's "legal defense fund", nor am I taking anyone else's word that he's "innocent".

Honestly, what else would someone say? "I need to raise funds in a hurry because I'm guilty and facing a LOT of prison time if I can't get a good lawyer to get me off."
race_inc
Obviously from the comment someone posted on FB, this isn't the first time. Soooooooo, I think I'll pass.

I've been in contact with Fiora from the art gallery that represents Grasso's work. For those who might like to help, or not help, I will post what information I have gleaned about the situation, as I made it known that I was asking for details, more or less for myself and the community, to decide if any persons would be willing to help.

I e-mailed her a few days ago asking to see a pic of the shirts for sale, and any information should could tell me about Craig's legal issue. The shirt is OK. Extremely reminiscent of the famous painting by Evard Munch, "The Scream". You've seen it before. She asked me to spread the word to those who might be sympathetic to the cause. So I sent her this in reply:

Fiora,
I've got nothing but good memories of Craig from way back when, and wish him all the best. But several members of the Old School freestyle community (including myself) don't know exactly what cause it is we are supposed to be sympathetic to. We know he's in trouble with the law, and that's it. We don't know what charges he up against and/or what his side of the story is. Frankly, in these times of economic hardship, it's difficult to donate funds when we are completely --and seemingly, intentionally-- being left in the dark about whether we would be helping out an old friend, wrongly accused, or throwing good money after bad. I'm not speaking for everyone of course, but that is the vibe I get on the boards and what I personally feel. I'm not trying to be nosy and/or a gossip, but I think that if someone is asking for help, one should at least have some information about the situation in order to make an informed decision.
I truly hope this works out the best for Craig,
Josh

Here's the situation. The charges are domestic charges. Grasso got into a huge argument with the mother of his 10 year old boy. A neighbor called the cops and due to a not so great record, they took him to jail. The woman has signed a statement claiming that there was no violence involved but the state of Vermont has taken on this case and is pushing for the maximum sentence, 10 years in prison. I have been there, seen all involved parties and have spent time with Grasso's lawyer. The severity of Vermont and domestic violence is NO JOKE and without MAJOR COUNCIL, Craig is looking at a minimum of 5 years in prison. For sure. Time is of the essence to raise lawyer fees (another $ 5,ooo) as the court date is set for 2 weeks from now. I know that Grasso is innocent, I met the girl. Please help me help Grasso as I think that 5 years in prison will be the end of him. Fiora Boes xxxxx

OK, I know what I think about this, and I'm not looking to influence decisions or stir up trouble and start flamewars and crap. There it is.

I have been outta town, but Craig sent me the following:

"Due to the sensitivity of the case, my lawyer has asked me not to disclose anything online. Anyway that you can help spread the word bro would be so appreciated. Grasso"

Sucky situation to be in, and like Axle said "I'm not looking to influence decisions or stir up trouble and start flamewars and crap".

Just for arguing with the mother, and she claims no violence? Gonna check Vermont off of the "Places to live" list!

"due to a not so great record"

I'm with Race_Inc and Larryboy on this. Unless it was a family member or close friend, why would anyone donate money they don't generally have to begin with, to help someone with a record.. because we used to look at pictures of him riding a bike in magazines, 20 years ago? Good luck. He should have removed himself from the situation, rather than get into a "huge argument," to begin with.

This has been a very interesting thread to follow. Alot of very insightful opinions. Axlepeg sent a realy well worded letter with questions that I think all of us had. I think u definately have to read between the lines on this one. There's definately more to this story than what has been offered up by this Fiora person. But in the end, I definately have to agree with what Sunburn wrote.
