I'm after your thoughts on the following SPECIFICS:
1. BB: euro, mid, or american?
2. Headset: integrated "campy" threadless headset, or standard threadless?
3. Round or bladed downtube?
4. Chainstay like the original Azusa, or a "box" behind the bb?
5. V-brakes or v-brakes?
6. Black, blue or white?

Mid bottom bracket
Integrated headset
990 brake bosses on seatstays
Short chainstay length
Make it look retro like a JMC.

Yes, and of course it will resemble a JMC...

Todd -
I would go with:
1. BB: euro, mid, or american? American or Mid
2. Headset: integrated "campy" threadless headset, or standard threadless? Standard Threadless
3. Round or bladed downtube? Bladed for sure (if it does not drive up the cost too much)
4. Chainstay like the original Azusa, or a "box" behind the bb? Box (always thought that looked cool)
5. V-brakes or v-brakes? V-brakes are good
6. Black, blue or white? White (any of your choices would be good though)
I know with the first run Jim Melton didn't want to have a part in it, have you asked him again? Maybe time has changed his mind.....

I'm after your thoughts on the following SPECIFICS:
1. BB: euro, mid, or american? Euro
2. Headset: integrated "campy" threadless headset, or standard threadless? Campy style with headtube machined to look like there is still bearing cups. See the s&m stricker frames for a example.
3. Round or bladed downtube? Bladed
4. Chainstay like the original Azusa, or a "box" behind the bb? Box behind bb
5. V-brakes or v-brakes?

Uumm, v-brakes.
6. Black, blue or white? Black.
Who is gonna make these and what is the geometry gonna be?

Forget the american BB, not trick enough. A bladed downtube would be a nice touch, as would a box behind the bb if it was the same material as the downtube. Go as trick as you can with the whole design.

Why change anything the master did so long ago???? Just my .02 !
I raced my jmc from 83-89 or so in the OM class & and didn't have
any problems at all --- just duplicate it with Jim's blessing & chrome it. !
( I'll take a set of forks please) Then my OG frame will be happy

With the original Azusa's I went with the American bb to give the most choices for cranks (as in 1 or 3 piece). As I've yet to see a single Azusa yet with 1pc (same goes for the retro SE's, come to think of it), I'm leaning towards euro (because I hate pounding cups in/out). Aside from the aforementioned choices, I have a few other touches I'd like to do, as well as making the bikes higher end and lighter, through the use of butted tubing and thinner dropouts. That will raise the price. My target price for a frame is $375-400. Does this information weed anyone out? Or bring more people in?

I have been communicating with you since the first thread began, and I would like the lowest serial number that I can get, like 00001. How about starting a list right now? Okay, I'll be #1, see how easy that was? Thanks, now where do I send my money and when will I get my Frame & Forks? Thank You, Mark

Any input on my part should be taken with a grain of salt because I'm currently stretching my wife's patience with my 20" build, and I'm still totally stoked on my 24" Nomorea, but if it were me, I'd build it with:
1. Euro all the way. Mr. Melton built bikes with euro bb's too.
2. I'd go with a standard threadless headset - I like bejewelling them with King headsets!
3. Blade that downtube dangit!
4. I honestly have no opinion on this. The box looks cool, but I imagine it would be kind of costly.
5. yes.
6. BLUE!
Whether I'll be able to get one of these jobbers or not, thanks again for letting us all dream Todd!

Right now the plan is for 24" frames, probably 25 of them. The plan for the new frames is: lighter, and tricker than the first gen. Azusa's (euro bb, PROBABLY bladed downtube, box stay, int. hs., built in seatpost clamp). Still USA made, and a target price of $380-400 (with paint and stickers) which is in line with all other chromoly USA made frames of today.

for geometry (nothing is yet set in stone) I'm thinking: 21.5"tt, 11.75/12" bb height, 73/71 ht/st angle, 14.75-15.75 chainstay. V brakes, euro bb, and int. hs. Made in the USA. (still talking to the builder)
