Here is my replica of the rarest of rare colour scheme haro master!! My insperation came about wheni first found out about the 5 pink masters and 5 pink spoirts haro released in late 85. What can i say, Chip was a great help with this build sending the powder to Asutralia and Roberto the Aus powder king for applying the colour. Also chip did an awesome job of replacing the spider on my cranks after the chromer f@#ked it up. Thanks Chip and to all those who helped me get this bike together.

Looks great Ash. Glad it worked out with the cranks. Those early Haro bars look huge too. I have a set also and they look like dragster bars when compared to the later version.

Very nicely done! I can tell you put a lot into that ride. Whatever it was, it sure paid off.
Just curious; do your freewheel and front gear line up better by putting the front sprocket behind the spider, instead of in front of it?

Wow very nice! Good to see the cranks got fixed back up. As someone who is having poor luck trying to find a reasonable priced pair that are in ok shape I was really bummed when you posted about them getting messed previously. I love the fact that you got all of the parts right. The only small imperfection is the front brake bolt is not recessed but I dunno if one can even find those now days...Beautiful Master!!!! Serial number on the frame? Just wondering if it is early or later gen 85...

Thanks axlepeg, it does line up better with the chainring on the inside of the spider mate, i have seen people do either way on these cranks though and i dont think it would make to much difference.

While I havent owned a set since 91 ish if my memory serves they line up with it behind the spider. The 400 series flights where never designed to have the chainwheel in front of the spider from what I have seen. ( I could be wrong but I dont ever remember seeing anyone with it in front on these particular cranks...other cranks yes.)

cheers sonikk, yeah the cranks are hard to find at a good price man, i found that they are either in really bad shape for around $350 -$400 or rechromed for $500+. Which front brake bolt are you talikng about mate? The serial is 8510####, so its a late 85.

It's nice but I don't like the crank spider, stem, or levers. I broke a Redline stem back in the 80's so that's why I don't like Redline stems. And no gyro is hurting for any old school bike. But ebay oldschool gyros are expensive!

SWEET BIKE !!!!
I remember a neighbor kid had a OE stock pink Master bitd...he was a few years younger than me, and didnt roll in our crew, but I loved that bike...I wonder what ever happened to it ??? The kid never rode it, and wasnt a really BMXer...probably sitting in a basement or garage some were in pristine condition...

You do realize that those are the factory correct parts for an 85 Master right? That makes it even more sweet! And yes I stripped my Redline forklifter stem out learning Miami hoppers!

The main mounting bolt that goes through the fork. The 85 Masters had a flat allen head bolt thing that fit into the recess that is around the hole in the fork on the backside so the front brake bolt was flush with the fork and did not kill your feet. (for tricks like tailwhips etc.) Yet another reason why back then I felt the Master was the epitome of trick. I will try and find a good pic.

Here found a pic. Not sure if this is the actual bolt in question (this one seems to stick out a little farther than I remember the one on my master in 85. The user could have just found something approximate) but this gives you the idea...

Here is another pic with a side view. Note the difference in the amount of bolt sticking through in the front brake versus the rear.

BTW... That is not my bike, that is a pic I lifted from Harofreestyler.com (thanks Dan!) to keep me focused on what my project will look like when it is done.

My understanding is it is a 85 Master. It is not mine. I just snagged a pic of what I was trying to show regarding the flush front brake bolt.

ok its now had a few small finishing touches and complete, i put the flush mount front brake bolt and got rid of the pink dice. took it for a ride yesterday, and it feels solid!
So you had the front brake flush bolt? Or did you have to find one? If you dont mind me asking could you tell me where you found one? If you dont want to give away the secret to everyone you can PM me. Did you end up having to dye your B2 grips or did you luck out and find a blue pair? The bike looks great! I am really liking it! Hopefully I can find a set of 400 series, a forklifter stem and a DC seatclamp at reasonable prices so I can get my 85 goin.

Nice! What the Oakley B2s? Did you have to dye them or where you lucky enough to find a blue set? Man I wish Oakley would start making grips again, they were the best! I would put them on everything I own!
