Just to add to what Colin, Deanna, George, and many others have said about the difference between the two, I can remember back when I was on the NBL board, the question was asked "why do the ABA amatures come over and seem to always beat our riders", Jason Richardson answered and said, "because it is a difference in mindset, they are bred that way and will do what it takes" or something like that..... He got several evil eye from almost everyone in the room.... But, in another thread, a NBL TD said this:
This guy is a part of a great state program and sees the difference, it is nothing to be ashamed of, but it is the truth....
Buntster
I agree with Bunster on this. ABA expert level racing is on another level. I think it maybe the tranfer system. I do not know. The kids are quicker and more agressive.
NBL has more technical/scary fasrt tracks (Nashville and south park) but maybe the easier tracks help with aggression. I am not sure but there is a difference.
This does not make an NBL national less fun it is just different. I think what goes down at Lousville on Labor day weekend is just as big a part of BMX as Tulsa on Thanksgiving.
I really like both sanctions.
I just wish the NBL would keep the state series, the regionals, and locals all separate in ponts. It is lame that an expert can use regional points from a race that is not deep with talent as a national score. While an expert running both sanctions misses the regional to race the deeper talent pool at an ABA race. Oh yea stop plating Noivs and rookies beyond regional plates in the NBL.
